I love Skin. Such a great song, I never understood why Sadie is so rude to Jude (heh) about not knowing their dad is having an affair. She wouldn’t even know if not for happenstance. How can you even act all high and mighty when you’re willing to keep his secret for him?

Oh man, my dad cheated on my mom and they were in the middle of their divorce when i first watched this episode and Skin was a lifeline for me. I felt seen and it really got me through that period of my life. Listening to it again all these years later is so surreal.

I totally agree with many others it seems haha - Skin is the most raw, powerful and best song of the whole series for me. And the way Tommy looks at Jude while she’s singing… it kills me every time. Finally he recognizes what he had done to her and not just to himself, the gravity of it in their relationship. And everything with her dad too… Even though it’s painful, this is one of my favorite episodes.

So, no one knows about my obsession with this show, becausr in my country was not that popular, and only one of my friends watched the show too. I even took the nickname of Alexz (my real name is Alejandra) because of Alexz Johnson playing Jude. The point is when the show started I was recently dumped by my first boyfriend, and by the time this episode was aired in my country, we found out my dad was having a Cyber affair with someone, I remember I cried as many times as Jude did through the series and specially with this episode. All the songs really get me but this one pierced me as it went. I really have a special love for this show and for Alexz Johnson, cuz Jude went through that same stuff with me. I still listen to all her music often, and it's cool to re watch Instant Star from a different place 15 years later.
