I find A LOT of the storylines in this show make no sense, including the one you just mentioned. Now that I'm watching this show as an adult, there's SO many *what the heck?!?* moments. And I notice that a lot of the drama between the characters is a case of them not communicating well, assuming things, and jumping to conclusions. If it wasn't for me waiting for Jude and Tommy to get together, their chemistry, and the singing, I wouldn't watch it.
