Hello, why do we need to wipe the first drop of blood on some test kits?

Hello FinnTV, thanks for your message. Can I confirm if you mean regarding the INSTI® HIV-1/2 Antibody Test? Our INSTI® tests do not require the first drop be wiped off. While I cannot confirm other tests and their requirements, it may have been thought that the first drop could be contaminated with skin, however, with INSTI®, you do not have to do this as our clinical studies have shown that the performance of the first drop works and shows high accuracy (our test has a high accuracy over 99%). How to test hiv after 4 years of exposure can i still use hiv test kit?

Hi Erwin, thanks for reaching out. You can still use our INSTI® HIV-1/2 test kit to screen for HIV after 4 years. With HIV testing, the focus on re-testing is with the initial period after exposure rather than a longer timeframe, such as 4 years. After exposure to HIV, it can take 3 - 12 weeks (21-84 days) for an infected person’s body to make enough antibodies for a screening test to detect them; this is called the window period. Approximately 97% of people will produce sufficient antibodies during this window period. If a person takes a test within the first 12 weeks after exposure, it is recommended to take another test at 3 months to confirm the result as it can take time to produce antibodies, depending on the individual (up to 12 weeks). So in the case of four years after exposure, a screening test will be effective. As with any medical result, it is always good to also chat to your doctor if you have any individual concerns.

The INSTI® HIV-1/2 Antibody Test is a 3rd generation test. However, it is good to know about the testing window for HIV in terms of when people will likely show positive (if infected with the virus) after possible exposure to HIV. After exposure to HIV, it can take the average person anywhere from 3 to 12 weeks (21-84 days) to develop enough antibodies for a screening test to detect them. This is called the serological window period. Some individuals may produce antibodies 21-22 days (approximately 3 weeks) after infection, and thus may test positive (if infected) with an antibody test, but this is dependent on the person and can take up to 3 months to produce sufficient antibodies (IgG or IgM) to generate a positive result. About 97% of people will develop detectable antibodies during this window period. If you are concerned, I would suggest speaking to a doctor or clinic for further information as they will be able to help with your specific situation. Can someone touches the only sample diluent liquid with open wound in finger .the sample diluent can oass the HIV ????i means Sample diluent is infectious or not ?

Hello Abbasi, Thanks for messaging us. There is no risk of being infected with HIV from the INSTI Test. There is no HIV present in the product (solution bottles, membrane unit, or test components). The INSTI HIV-1/2 Antibody Test does not detect HIV itself but rather the antibodies produced in response to the virus. The INSTI® test uses the gp41 and gp36 antigens. Antigens are only small bits/parts of the virus and are not infectious. HIV would need to be completely intact for it to be infectious. Hope that helps. Have a great and safe weekend ahead!

About 97% of people will develop detectable antibodies during this window period. It is recommended to wait at least 21 days (or 3 weeks) to test for the first time. As you are within the 3-month window, we do recommend that a second test is taken after 90 days to confirm the result as some people do take longer to develop antibodies. Hope that information helps.
