This is not a criticism, but can someone explain how this differs from just trying to hit the bullseye on any normal target at slightly increasing distances?
@stupidhandles
@stupidhandles 7 ай бұрын
It reduces what there is to focus on, which will help focus groupings, you could use anything that's of a similar diameter. The main advantage is the cup is likely cheaper than wasting a full size zoned target if your not shooting for a score, as I've said narrows in in what your focusing on, also just shooting zoned targets can get a bit dull, so makes it a bit different.

I've seen a few bade from compressed grocery bags. I just stack cardboard into a box sideways. Meaning if I cut the front off of the target of see the layers stacked up. About a foot wide, and i just put my weight on it and tape it up. My 70 lb compound can hit the plywood behind it if it gets just the right angle, but not hard enough to blunt the tip.

So that's 3 arrows at 3 meters, hence at 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20(?), back at 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6 and 4 meters. Lets quit there. Because now, at best, 17x3 arrows have found the middle of the cup. How on earth is a paper cup going to remain attached with 50+ holes in it?? :p

You could use tape to make a hanging tag to pin it with a normal archery pin, using tape so it's hanging under the pin, that was you're less likely to hit the pin and break it

Hi Jim! First of all, I really like your videos, I`ve learned a lot from it. I`m practicing my instictive shooting for a several months now and I`ve noticed my arrows go mostly above the target (sometimes a bit to the right too). How can I fix that? Do I just lower the bow a bit? You (and other instinctive shooters like Chris Billingsgate & Grayarcher1) always say "trust your body to know what to do, just focus on the spot"- Do I need to "correct my body" by lowering the bow arm or just keep shooting as I do and I will fix itself?

First thing I would do, before fiddling with the set-up, is see what happens if I look at the exact centre instead of the top edge of the cup or centre circle.

I've been doing a drill similar to this since getting back into trad archery. I like that you must make three shots before moving back, I've only making myself put one in the bulls eye. And the cup is a great idea, gives you a much more definitive target. Think I'll start putting some of this into my training.
