So you take a sociology class at Berkeley. What if you disagree with the professor politically and philosophically? Do you pass or fail?

I think you misunderstand what sociology is. It is not just a bunch of people sharing their opinions. It is based on empirical evidence. If you disagree that is your right. Sort of like when a conservative Christian disagrees with evolution in a biology class.
