Ah yes, throw away food instead of giving the food *already made* to people because they can’t pay for it. Gotta love the American school system
@saellanya2 жыл бұрын
The really sad answer to why they would rather throw away the food, than give it to those who can't pay is pretty simple. They think that by giving them, they will abuse the system and continue to say they can't pay (knowing that they still will get the food). By throwing it to the trash, rather than giving it, they hope to prevent such abuse that might cost more in the end. It's simply a case of trash peoples who abused generosity, ruining it for everyone that really needed it. It's sadly really common in America, due to the individualistic and self-centered culture there. Example: "If those who can't pay still get food, why should "I" pay for my food?" This explain why the KAREN stereotype is so prevalent in America. It also serve to explain why many of them think that taxes is thieving.

Food for children is free in most developed countries (okay, it's based on tax money, but it really benefits the poor and lower class), and education is also usually free as well. Because well educated people will get good jobs and pay back in taxes. Makes the money go around the system.

9:02 ok, this is going to sound bad but, there are some parents that can more then afford to pay for their kids school lunches, but... choose not to. taking the stance "why bother? whats the school going to do, starve them? I can spend this money on myself." AND it gets worse... As a divorced mother, threw a fit at family court, when the father decided to STOP paying alimony to her, and instead pay it directly to the school for the lunch program. which was for both breakfast AND lunch... she had NOT been paying the school, and instead using the child support for herself. This sort of stuff happens at a lot of schools. Then add in the fact that "due to allergies" parents can't provide their kids with ANY food themselves and must.. MUST ONLY use the school lunch programs in some cases. With it costing upwards of 8 dollar a day... or 160 a month...well all of sudden the program ends uphurting low income families and becoming a "forced option" Nope can't send sandwitches to school anymore.

Annoying and distruptive protests are what work and what have always worked. People have always said protests do not work, then said protests are looked on positively some many years in the future. It's not the case for every protest, but I'd say it's worth the risk of being forgotten. Also, I think it the protesters being abandoned without food or a way to go to the bathroom says a lot about the museum. They could have had free positive PR by helping the protesters and making some empty statement about wanting to encourage people to get more electric cars.
@oceanbanana43412 жыл бұрын
That's not a realistic outcome because that specific protest is idiotic and the museum would look idiotic by encouraging them
@shiroganekei16202 жыл бұрын
Or... People could avoid gluing themselves to the floor or walls if they want to be able to move. Also, vandalism like some of these people have been including in their "protests" serves no purpose beyond shock factor and pisses everyone off. I refer to the "let's toss soup at paintings and then refuse to leave" crowd.
@shiroganekei16202 жыл бұрын
Also, blocking traffic to protest people using their vehicles they *need* to go about their lives, making people late, refusing to move for pregnant people on their way to the hospital, and all around just forcing people to stay in the cars you're protesting is directly counter to the point one would be trying to make. Ah yes, let me protest these drivers in their cars by ensuring they're in their cars and emitting pollution into the atmosphere for as long as possible before I'm forced out of the way. Truly magnificent thought process there.
@shiroganekei16202 жыл бұрын
As for the electric cars: the mining of rare earth metals required to make the batteries is extremely destructive to ecosystems, and the electricity to charge them has to come from the grids actively in use. This means the power going into an electric car is still coming from fossil fuels, and they're actually less fuel efficient when you take into account the comparison in maximum range of a gas powered car with a full tank or a battery car with a full battery. One will get two or three states away on a full tank. The other will get 100 or so miles then need a refuel that'll take at least ten times as long as the gas car. Unless we also come up with a solution to battery weaknesses, start using nuclear power for most of our grid purposes, figure out faster charging methods, and come up with a way to do all of that for prices that normal, non-rich people can actually afford to pay, a switch away from fossil fuels is not going to happen. Tantrums won't make that any less true.
