Dear Caitriona, your viola is not a baroque viola! Only your tailpiece and the gut strings are "baroque". But your viola neck construction is modern, your fingerboard is modern, your tuning pegs are modern, your saddle is modern and even your bridge is modern! I can't see the bass bar, but he will be modern too.

@@robertoortiz49 I made a baroque viola myself from a Chinese white viola with baroque fingerboard and baroque tailpiece. With a bridge from Milo Stamm it has become a fine instrument, of course with gut strings!

The viola was invented first, violin wasn't invented until 1564. Viola is the Italian word for viol? Violino is the Italian for little viola. Nowadays viola players are ridiculed unfairly as they are very musical and skilled players.
