I think the wool is going to be great. It's the first time I have used it. I have built 6 hives now with it. So hope it works out well.

I think I would let the propolise the pine on the inside and use the cedar on the outside for better weather resistance.

Hey George I thought about that but then the rough cut of the cedar the bees will proplize up more and since they are getting painted I figured I would put the cedar inside. We will see how it works out. If cedar wasn't so high around here I would build the whole thing with cedar. But cedar has sky rocked around here it's not worth it.

That’s how I want to make my insulated hives, not using plywood.

I prefer solid wood. I'm not a big fan of plywood for outdoor projects. solid wood is also easier for me to work with

I'm in south east Oklahoma and might have access to a large property that has a lot of trifolate orange aka hardy orange have u had ank experience with it would it be a good nectar source

Hey Jeremiah I have not had any experience with hardy orange. I'm not sure I would think they pollinate them. Hopefully it's a good property. Always nice to get a good large property secured to grow hives on.

Did you do ply sheets on the bottom? Or more T&G siding?

The bottoms are steel ply. It holds up great. We use it for a lot of our tops and bottoms on out langs

@@sweetstingers I like the longer frames in the Layens hives but it would be too costly to switch from Langstroth equipment for me. I can't wait to see their progress.
