We deregulated much of the insurance industry back in the 1990s. Corporate greed and corruption are behind this, not anything remotely resembling integrity or honesty. You forget the corruption of the Republican insurance commissioner years ago who took bribes .

He had to resign because it was revealed he was taking bribes.In early 2000, Cindy Ossias, then a senior lawyer for the California Department of Insurance (CDI), charged the Department with corruption. According to testimony by CDI employees, including Ossias and staff attorney Robert Hagedorn, Commissioner Quackenbush and his top aides abused their positions for personal gain and acted against consumers' interests for many years. Quackenbush fled to Hawaii and never went to jail as he should have.

Insurance companies don't want to pay claims for natural disasters like wildfires, earthquakes, tornados, or hurricanes. They're leaving both red and blue states. This really should not be a partisan issue. But we can't have nice things.

I own a couple homes in Texas and nope no issues with insurance. I don’t know about Florida. Imperial Beach my home insurance is fine.
