Flower offering for God/prayers is from the heart and done with love, sincerity as well as devotion so in my opinion any flower of your choice is acceptable. God does not discriminate but people do - all the time. There was one time my mother took bougainvilla flowers to Goddess Mariamman temple as offering to do 'archanei'. The priest accepted & did the prayers but a total stranger came up to my mother and said the flower should not be offered. This is human nature and man made rules to impose on another. The flowers you offered are beautiful and I'm certain they were 'accepted' during your Deepavali prayers and everyone was blessed 🙏🏽.
