This is an introduction to the technique of sugar-lift for intaglio printmaking. While there are various approaches and recipes out there, I'm using what I happen to have at home. My sugar-lift solution is made using sugar in the raw, water, 7th Generation dish soap, and some Blick liquid watercolor. This is the first of four videos that walk you through the process. Video 1/4 describes the technique, briefly discusses plate preparation, and how to make and apply the sugar-lift solution. I am working from home in a well-ventilated area with household materials and minimal solvent use.
