I think the hummer turned out beautiful Cy! I love hummingbirds and enjoy watching them at the feeder on my patio year round. They are such amazing little creatures. You always do a super job with grain/wood selection for your intarsia pieces. Great job!!!

Great work Cy! turned out pretty good to me, I think we can be our own worse critic sometimes. A little technique I have seen others use for sanding small pieces is to hot glue it onto the end of a piece of dowel and then sand, might be worth trying

I read the comments and could not understand what you were referring to about the gaps. Then I looked at the image in the pattern. It is subtle. Remember...Gaps Happen! The catchlight on the eye in the pattern looks like a crescent? Painted? Thanks for sharing!

I loved it and think you did a great job! You are such an inspiration. One question: does the old masters poly gel come in a spray can? I looked at my local Ace Hardware and did not see any in a can, just a spray bottle. Thanks again for sharing. I think you are really great!
@CysCorner2 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you :) I believe the old masters only comes in a can. Due to the nature of the stuff I dont see it being able to be sprayed. It is a gel. Here is a link to the stuff I use: amzn.to/30dfvvi

Hola..

I still have trouble me with shaping, any tips
@CysCorner2 жыл бұрын
Is your trouble with this pattern specifically? I made this once before without using a sanding shim to shape the head and body together. I ended up throwing it away. A sanding shim for this was what I needed to get the head and neck shape looking like a hummingbird.
@johnfithian-franks82763 жыл бұрын
Hi Cy, Great hummingbird and as always very well portrayed. You mentioned sanding shims a load of times, but you never told us what they were or what function they are used for.
@CysCorner3 жыл бұрын
Oh, ooops, sorry about that John! I will make sure to mention how to use sanding shims in the next video. It is a thin piece of hardboard or plywood that you tape the intarsia pieces to so that you can shape and sand multiple pieces at the same time. Thanks for pointing out that I didn't explain that!

I’m not sure if you still see your messages. I’m having a horrible time finding a video of how to refit pieces that are just off a thousands. They just don’t fit snug or look good at all. Would you have a video on how to fix the screw up saw pieces. It’s not by much but I can see it. And wood being horribly expensive I can’t keep recutting. Any suggestions would be a life saver! Love the video! Nice work!

Hello, I do have a video on fixing gaps. I will give you a link here! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXSrZaClo9d8bqs I hope that helps!

@@CysCorner I’m not trying to be pushy or annoying . I just thought of something. I have never heard of pegus scroll saw blades, until I saw your videos and you mentioned them. I would almost guarantee that if you contacted the company that makes them. Wooden Bear or something. They would give you free blades, sponsor your videos and pay you for it. You have 12,000 followers your average video is about 1000 views so if 10 of those people ordered those blades that company would be making about $600 off of their product. As I said I have never heard of them until I saw your video I think it would be good for you to contact them and say listen I am I a KZbinr I have this many followers I have this many views I was wondering if you would sponsor me. And I think it would be good for you and them. I ordered I think it was $120 worth of blades this morning all because of you. I hope you have a great day I’m not gonna bug you with messages anymore I’m sorry but it just came to mind. On a daily average I go through about 6 to 7 scroll saw blades I cut for about 9 1/2 hours a day. If I ordered them from them with maybe your code or however that works you would be making money they would be making money to be a good all-around. Just a thought. 🙂❤️

@@Wood-In-My-Eye Wow, thanks for that suggestion! I'll have to see about it. The place I used to order them is out of business as of recently, so I have been buying from Bear woods, maybe I should seek Pegas directly?!

The Hummingbird has a strong spiritual meaning. They fly their wings in a figure 8 motion. The symbol of infinity ♾. Great choice in the poplar/purplar.
