I understood after seeing the video that it's crucial to incorporate new literacies into the curriculum. Technology is the most crucial tool we utilize in all part of our lives, thus we need to immerse ourselves in the modern world where technological improvements are pervasive. And we can't deny the fact that technology indeed is already part of our lives and we can't deny the fact that wherever we go, technology is always present. I also heard about the idea of integrated curriculum, which is the process of tying together and/or incorporating various subject areas into the discussion in order to promote learning. Additionally, there are three ways to integrate disciplines: multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary. As what Sir Japitana mentioned in the video that multidisciplinary is the integration of different subjects that are outside discipline. Example is incorporating science and English into one, so that is an example of multidisciplinary. When we say multi, it is outside the discipline. Interdisciplinary is incorporating subjects within the discipline. For example biology and chemistry, so these two are science. So that is interdisciplinary, it is within the discipline. And lastly is the Transdisciplinary, it is the application of the learned content into real life situations or scenarios and this is very important in the teaching and learning process since our goal is not just teach our students and they just learn but the most important thing is the application of the learned content and relate, and apply it to real world. And that is the demand of our society nowadays. Let's produce students that are competent and competitive into the real world. To sum up, integrating new literacies into the subject areas enhances the effectiveness and efficiency of the discussion for the students by allowing them to apply their knowledge in real-life scenarios that are crucial to their development and will equip them to handle issues in the real world. After watching this video, I gained a deeper understanding about the integration of new literacies in the curriculum and how it is important for today's new era of education. Before I was like, why all of our subjects in school consisted of different concepts or units and now I came to realize that it is because of the evolution of new literacies in education which needed to be learned by the students. There are three approaches for integrating new literacies such as multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary. When we say multidisciplinary approach means it involves many or different disciplines together with one subject so that students can understand various area or field of studies. For interdisciplinary approach, it simply means integrating subdisciplines within a subject area to help students learned different skills and concepts of two or more disciplines. While, transdisciplinary approach refers to a curriculum that addresses students' needs and concerns in order to develop life skills and will eventually apply those skills in real-life situations. Indeed, this topic helps teachers and even future educators think of a better idea on what disciplines are needed to be integrated and how those disciplines should be taught in the whole class to develop their skills and understanding of the lesson.

After watching the video lesson I have learned how important it is to integrate new literacies into the curriculum. I also took notice of the idea of an integrated curriculum, which is the process of combining and/or incorporating various subject areas into the discussion to foster learning. Besides, there are three approaches integrating the disciplines: a multidisciplinary approach, an interdisciplinary approach, and a transdisciplinary approach. As Sir Japitana pointed out in the video, multidisciplinary is the integration of different subjects that are outside the discipline. An example is incorporating Science and English into one, so that is an example of a multidisciplinary approach. When we say multi, it is outside the discipline. Interdisciplinary is incorporating subjects within the discipline. For instance, biology and chemistry, so these two are science. So that is interdisciplinary, it is within the discipline. And lastly is the Transdisciplinary, which is the application of the learned content into real-life situations or scenarios this is very important in the teaching and learning process since our goal is not just to teach our students and they just learn but the most important thing is the application of the learned content and relate, and apply it to the real world. And that is the demand of our society nowadays. Let's produce students that are competent and competitive in the real world. To conclude, incorporating new literacies into the subject areas enhances the effectiveness and efficiency of the discussion for the students by allowing them to apply their knowledge in real-life scenarios that are important to their development and will prepare them to handle issues in the real world. I've learned that new literacies refer to competencies in skills using the Internet ”to identify important questions, locate information, critically evaluate the usefulness of that information, synthesize information to answer those questions, and then communicate the answers to others.
