Andrew, I'm so sorry for your loss. On the 9th of January 2023, a liver cancer took away my father from me. He was my friend. He died while in my arms and looking at me. This particular song was impressed on my spirit and i really wanted to sing it during my brother's wedding but i thought it was odd. Bolaji, my brother died , 22nd August, 2021,3 years later. He was 38 years old. Grief is real , even as i type... May the Lord, the source of true comfort grant the grace to cherish the moments we had together and to move on to new things His mercies can afford for us in Jesus name. Amen.

I've known this song since about 12 years ago, but never took it too seriously. I thought "oh it's a nice song" and that's all. I didn't really understand what "miry clay" means, nor how it is that God looks beyond our weakness, and I didn't care enough to ponder about it. To my teenager self back then, this song simply had a self-reflective message, to teach me to think whether or not I have lived my life in a godly way. But then, my mom passed away 2 weeks ago and it shattered my world. During the funeral I was suddenly reminded about this song, and that's when I started to understand what this song is about, in a whole new enlightening way! I began to grasp the depth of the message, and applying it to my mom, I found comfort and consolation. I praise the Lord for his great mercy.
