No problem Tony. Of course I am getting some blow-back from those who hate Intel, but it is a lot lower than I expected. We should all realize the a CPU always suffers some degradation over time, however it can be accelerated when the motherboard request very high voltages on any of the cores, and the CPU does not do anything to keep that in-check. I think these changes are at least an effort to keep thing in-check. I believe I read in one of my Computer Engineering text books (while studying for my Professional Engineering License), that the maximum life expectancy of a silicon-based CPU is about 12-years, which i at the far end of how long anyone would use such a CPU under heavy usage continuously. I guess we will find out if these last three updates can keep the longevity within that time-frame.

Hello. Have you been able to do any playbacks of 4k videos in different codecs and see how it performs with Premiere Pro or DaVavinci Studio? I have been thinking of getting this motherboard for same reason you did. I have build a PC similar to the specs you have in Feb. of this year, but i has been a nightmare dealing with some unknown stutters and freezes that randomly happen when playing 4k, in H.264, H.265, ProRes. MSI, NVIDIA, Intel, and Microsoft don't have an answer, yet. I am suspecting it is the motherboard (MB).

I am surprised to hear that. Honestly though, my build was halted due to the issues with the i9-14900K CPU. I do plan on continuing that build later in December, so I will let everyone know if I have any issues like you have identified.
@maximilian.R14 күн бұрын
@ I see. Yes, the i-9 CPU has been an issue, as well as the firmware from the MB manufacturers. I have already exchanged one CPU with Intel, and it seems that the overheating is back, even after the last microcode from Intel this past month. I will have to open a case with Intel to see why it overheats, again. MSI is providing lame excuses, like always, and does not have a solution-it has been more than a month since the last microcode 0z12B came out, and MSI has no fix. I guess Asus is in similar situation?

I updated the BIOS to version 2703 on an ASUS Strix Z790 with a 13900K, applying an offset of -0.50, and my score in Cinebench R23 dropped from 38K to 29K. I've tried everything to restore the previous performance, but even in 3DMark, my CPU Time Spy score decreased from 20,384 to 13,866. Why is this happening?
@WhoDunnit3224 күн бұрын
I have an Asus Z790 also and this on their website, bascially forcing C1E on = speedstepping, so the CPU will downclock to 800mhz and back up then back down constantly. 1.Updated with Intel microcode 0x12B to address elevated voltage requests during idle or light activity, further mitigating Vmin Shift instability issues. 2.The option to disable C1E in the BIOS has been removed to ensure it remains enabled , reducing processor stress and maintaining stability per Intel's recommendation.

Should i buy now i9 14th or amd ???
@PE4DoersАй бұрын
That comes down to more of a personal choice. I have both up and running without any issues (actually multiple each), and I have had very few complaints about any of them). AMD prior to RYZEN was very problematic, and the AMD Video Cards have let me down more than once.

Would you recommend buying a i9-14900k/13900k after the claimed "fix" that Intel announced? What can I expect a new intel cpu i9 lifespan be if used for streaming/gaming only?
@PE4DoersАй бұрын
I honestly believe that adding these updates will limit the damage to these PC's. Would I consider buying another one? Yes, but only New, since once the damage has been done it cannot be reversed. I believe going forward, it can be used for any purpose as long as the limits are not overridden by an aggressive over-clocker.
@louiienation8497Ай бұрын
@@PE4Doers yes I agree. I added additional power restrictions on my i9-13900k. I have PL1 set to 125W and PL2 at 253W. Cinebench score is at about 25,000 but my temps are well under 65C under load.

I am curious if it will all work fine with the XMP Ram. I got 2x 48gb DDR5 running at 6000mt/s currently, will there be a problem after the update? so far my PC has been super stable anyways, not one crash since I've build it a few months ago.
