The price point is right, the potential seems pretty good - as we can see some games work well, but could they not leave this a week and get the drivers sorted? daily updates would really showcase that this is still in early driver development I would assume they are rushing it cause by January when Nvidia release 5000 series no one will care less what Intel are doing.

Whats nice is that it finally looks like you can do raytracing on the desktop for a moderate sum of money rather than having to spend over a grand on a top of the line GPU that sounds like a vacuum cleaner and makes the lights dim every time you switch it on.

Having going though a few reviews of the B580 I am coming to the conclusion that in the UK the RRP of £250 is about £20-£30 to high for the product especially when you can get a 4060 for the same money on the same website

Currently, I can find both B580 and Nvidia RTX 4060 priced identical in Europe at least. The 8GB VRAM pretty much voids it's value though. Overall a solid release and very positive point for all PC builders. Next few months are going to be interesting.

No I don't think it was a bad card, I think we just tested some different games. If you think about it, it'd be entirely possible to experience no driver issues depending on the games tested - but we just so happened to test a few problematic ones

I generally avoid Dominic, I can't stand his personality, but this was a good and honest review compared to others. I wish folk would WAIT while the launch driver bollocks and other launch issues settled. None of the other launch reviews are worth toffee as they are all over the place. Reviewers need to get their ducks in a row, present company excepted, and stop sodding us about; we get enough of that from the mfrs. I'll be staying away 'til next 4th quarter; I fully expect Intel to dump doing GPU's by then; and I certainly doubt their driver problems will be sorted in the meantime.

I'd buy the b580 instead. based on many reviews it's overall very stable. And intel isn't playing around, they're fixing issues within the day of finding them. What's more, I know they will gradually increase performance over time by quite allot. with 12gb of ram, and promising performance with an even more promising future? the b580 is what I'd recommend.

@@KitGuruTech Yes! I would argue the 4060 also tho can't play some titles as well for different reasons. The Vram becomes an issue often, sometimes not even loading a game (indiana jones on ultra) and crashing on another. Sometimes going to 12fps like in hogwarts, RE4, and others. requiring you to lower settings to that of a much lower tier card. B580 overall does have more unstable drivers. It'll be interesting tho to see how quickly it improves and what that future holds!

BM 580 is a price at cost card for Intel continuing user base platform hardware, firmware and applications performance validation. Knowing end buyers are the test lab might as well join Intel Insider program to find out what are the other validation perks for reporting observations and discoveries to Intel. My bet is its more than an Intel shirt and traditionally for market-based validation force, IF you complete the entire Intel test framework, do you earn a BM 7x0 or a Celestial or Druid for FREE as Intel tester performance award for completing a defined Intel test framework guide. Any Intel Insiders here for Arc or CPU, please chime in what are the requirements, the benefits and the perks. mb

Let's be honest, the consideration of it competing with previous gen rather than the next one doesn't make a whole lot of sense. This is what we have now, and whatever improvements Nvidia and AMD bring with their next gen is unknown, never mind when they are even available. They may still not be much better, and when they release, with potential driver improvements who knows where this intel card is at the time. So yes, obviously this card will have to face everything that the future brings, that is true for every single card released. But it's just not really a meaningful thing to speculate on at this point. What is the value now is really all that matters at the moment. When those other cards finally get released, they will then be measured against what is out at that moment (including this B580), and so on and so forth.

General Settings High - Very High ( depending on the game)+ RT Medium to High(depending on the game) should provide decent Raytracing experience to many players at 1080p in many if not all games . Especially with FSR3.1 + AMD Frame Generation(where supported) and/or XeSS(whichever is the latest version) + whenever is Intel Frame Generation fully ready . With that tech , perhaps even at higher settings than that mentioned above . So why not show more results with those technologies activated especially with RT scenarios? Makes review incomplete . Those that call it awesome , are those that don't care about anything beyond Native and with zero RT . They might be majority , but not as huge as 2+ years ago . Some(many?) might even have no idea what those technologies really do or exists . Simply mentioning something without stats often isn't sufficient. So not an awesome , but decent review .

Two of our 8 RT benchmarks use upscaling. I tend to avoid it for my benchmarks however as I prefer to test at native resolution - so it's effectively a worst case scenario, and you can enable higher frame rates with upscaling. FG I do want to looks at, but XeSS FG is only in F1 24 at the moment and that is giving us headaches
