10 gen? It ain’t the newest but it’s still new enough that it can deal with modern AAA games

@@Me-eb3wv My gamer soul is screaming at me to update my i7-6700k, but when I look at housing prices, I am reminded why I need to hold onto every last dollar. Honestly, a dedicated office or gaming room would do more for my gaming experience than a faster PC.

I'm still on the i7-6700k, and it can do everything I need. I'm very reluctant to update my PC in 2024. I probably won't play PC games for a long while, because I am stuck on my console backlog. I stopped buying games in 2020 because I kept buying games I didn't end up playing. I made a vow to stop buying games and play the games I own, starting with my console games (because disk rot is a thing). I'm happy to say I'm permanently done all my PS1 games, but I'm still stuck on my PSP games. If my PC breaks, I'll use my Lenovo mini PC M720Q with my i5-8400T. All I need is a PC to capture and upload videos until I finish my backlog.

Well they are more interesting than last generation. Partially because of the naming haha, Intel does know how to bring attention somewhat. But obviously because it's something new, unlike their last generation, but man its so disappointing in performance and price. I dont know what you have access to, but an interesting benchmark I'd love to see is cpu benchmarks on Cities Skylines 2, a game/simulator which is supposed to make use of many cores as well as liking memory where Amd's 3d cache helps. Would be a very interesting match up and test of different modern cpu's, how well it uses e-cores, 3dcache, traditional cores, hyperthreading etc.

Yea not the most exciting CPU we've seen in terms of the product itself, but the technology I think has lots of potential, kind of like Zen+. We actually just finalized a new game testing methodology, and we're testing some games we haven't before including Cities Skylines 2. You won't be disappointed.

X3D - better gaming performance, cheaper CPU, cheaper motherboard with longer platform support, less power-hungry, less heat, lower temps, better longevity

If i am a gamer and not producer, where is the intel competition to amd? Why bother running more power hungry cpu that also doesnt get as much cache as the lower tdp competition does? I'd gladly pick a lower clock speed to have more cache and lower tdp cause overclocking gains from higher clocks are not translating into any meaningful improvement in gaming performance as much as extra cache is.

There's way more to CPUs than just the raw specs. You can't just decide which CPU is better based on core count or clock speed or cache amount. CPUs will utilize these resources differently and to varying degrees of efficacy. Take for instance Skylake-derived Intel CPUs: relatively weak in cores and cache, but high in clock speed. They were great in everything (except price) until AMD came out with Ryzen 3000 chips in 2019, but even then these CPUs were good at gaming. Arrow Lake can still be very good despite what the on paper specs say. In fact, Intel's performance-to-cache ratio has been much better than AMD's for a while, even in games. Intel's definitely having to catch up, but they're not out of the game by any means.

@@Silicon-Insights I'm still using Skylake at home! I replaced my power supply, GPU, CPU fan, and RAM, but the CPU is still going strong. Long live Skylake.

How much Intel paid you?

Not even a cent. It's possible Intel can't afford it.
