You should upgrade to an i5 4690/k, i7 4770/k, or best option for like $40 on eBay is the Xeon E3 1270 v3. Big difference. I went from an i3 2130 to an i7 3770 and it completely got rid of my CPU bottleneck. (GTX 960)

You're right! I've got the i5 4690k, but I didn't manage to make it work with my motherboard, even upgrading the bios. Hopefully it's not dead on arrival. In my main rig I've got an 8 core 16 threads Xeon from x79 socket
