great video but I feel like the testing could be improved. Since you are testing the 7700k, it would have made more sense to test the cpu with games that are more cpu dependent than gpu dependent. you did kind of acknowledge the gpu being the bottleneck, but for the game results, comparing cpu dependent titles like city skylines, red dead redemption 2 would have been more appropriate. not bashing the video, just some constructive criticism.

You were getting bottlenecked by the gfx card the i7700k was only runnning almost half its power you can, i tried an i7700k 4.2ghz with 970 and im still pushing 30fps on all high settings at 1920x1080 using 32gb ram on the GA z-270x gaming mb. it isnt a budget cpu all thats really coming out is broken silicon binned switched off and running more e cores at lower clocks made for multi tasking win 11 and newer games. but in raw power we havent seen much generation increase for the high 4.2-5GHZ leap in the skylake to lake to lake architecture i5/i7/i9 600/700/900 until around first qtr next year. Feels like they made the new socket because moores law is stuck and we going backwards but more cores and less pure power thats why miners are still using the i7-7700k QYP not the S33a ones and they still fetching good money around £300 and pushing £450 for packaged new. it was ahead of its time but gamings changed, but if you run an older title nothing beats em. you have to use a Z mb for these if using anything but the Z chipset its not going to run it right

Man, people act like this isn’t a perfectly good, usable cpu. He’s running this with a 970. If you want a good idea of what to expect, you would have to pair it with a gpu that is way overkill. For gaming, I guarantee this cpu is way more than good enough for 90 percent of people lol.I could game surprisingly well on my old 3470…this would actually be overkill for most people who are still running 60hz, 1080p monitors. Unless you’re going to buy a better monitor. I disagree that this is on its way out. I think you could still game achieve medium to high frame rates for years to come, for MOST people. You’re talking about not being able to turn the settings above high with a 970. Even with the 980, I think you really need a more capable gpu to make amy claims about what the cpu can really do. Yes, I know the 980 is capable, but any major review knows that you need to take the gpu out of the equation to show true cpu performance. Linus and others don’t just pair these cpus with a 3090 because they can….it eliminates the gpu as a possible source of poor performance. It’s not a bad video. Pretty good actually, but I think some of the claims shouldn’t be made without having the proof.

fair call man, ill revisit this later, this cpu is stillm quite decent i agree, but based off how tech is advancing there are more efficent options, still if you can get this for a good deal its worth it, and if you already own it, then its worth keeping, this is defintely still ok for todays market, but as more games come along and become more core reliant this will slowly phase out, will prob be within the next 4-5 years before 4 cores wont exist anymore, but i do agree with your points :)

Lolol, I've had to game on a Haswell mobile i7, the CPU really doesn't matter much for gfx software (hence my buying an AMD A10 laptop in 2013 which today can run this years Stellaris 3.0 fine), it WAS always the gfx GPU that was the bottleneck, so I've become very used to tuning settings. Except some really old titles like Rome Total War which used DX8 and didn't like resolutions above about 760p. On a desktop R5 3400G box, the iGPU performs around the level of th Nvidia mobile in the laptop, but is whisper quiet and running cool even running in game benchmarks. Getting ready for a Red Devil 6700 XT, then I'll upgrade from 4/8 to 6/12 with an R5 5600X unless there's some tempting new model coming out for Christmas.

@@Ryznstrider Getting an upscaling monitor and doing display upscaling is a good interim alternative to upgrading GTX & Polaris RX to move from 1080p to 1440p. TVs have upscaled and ppl are using newer 4K OLEDs with consoles than minimised burn in issues. The trick is to set the display resolution via the display driver modes list, then you see the active signal resolution in the cable is NOT native, logically a display upscaling is better, it need upscale only what it displays and it knows the exact characteristics of the display, so can dither better. Upscaling AC: Odyssey from 720p -> 1440p gives a pretty painted type effect for the background, probably more acceptable to those used to film cameras with depth of field, rather than pin sharp native resolution rendering.

In my experience I have a 6700 it's a much better experience as of running apps in backround like discord and a game capture when I did it with 4 cores people said my voice was lagging but once I got the i7 6700 everything is fine

Yeah its still decent, I have picked up a 2nd hand 6700 and planning to do a vid on that early 2022

yep i figured as thats the goal realstically the gpu bottlenecks first before cpu so the experience is a bit more seamless when doing other tasks with cpu resources :)

@@Ryznstrider I'm starting to think you don't understand what you are taking about. Even a 7700 non k will benchmark higher for gaming than a 2700x. Literally every single game will have a small fps advantage with a 7700 over a 2700x.

sorry man i couldnt watch your video talking about i7 7700k like its a piece of shit low end. it was created to be the top tier cpu and you talk about it like an actual i3 xD . come on bro its like really old cpu, dont compare it to actual i7, people that watch this video want to upgrade maybe to 7000 series because they cant afford right now newer pc components
@Ryznstrider2 жыл бұрын
I think its important to be critical and give an honest response review etc, its a end of life platform and does ok but you can only really do so much with anything below 8th gen intel, it was amazing at its time but mordern cpus such as the 10th gen i3 or 12th gen i3 which are priced very well are better alternatives
@pieledesarpe6032 жыл бұрын
@@Ryznstrider yes but you have to upgrade mother board aswell and maybe ram or psu, i m not up to date with the components you have to change if it would be to upgrade to 10th or 11th gen
