These guys are great engineers.(congratulations!) but ... I think the Marketing distribution model is a fail. Why?, because the SFF Enthusiast market is mostly about building your own system, with priority to compact size rather than top performance. But I like those engineers and I want to offer a constructive crtitic. In my opinion a truly SFF enthusiast kit would need to offer a simpler kit like this: - A compute module + CPU, with i3 or i5 also available, not only i7 and i9. In fact the i3 and i5 are the favourite CPUs for SFF hobbyists. - The Baseboard - A flex SFF PSU more suited to mid range systems (something in line with the HDPlex 400w, it needs to be "thin", not just "small") - The case needs to be optional. Then let the SFF enthusiasts chose the coolers, the PCIe risers, the sff case (or an open frame solution), or even let us build our own case. Those things are really at the heart of our hobby. But instead, now if we want it we will be forced to buy a whole pre-built system, and also pay for some of the most expensive CPUs, and also forced to buy the case weather we want it or not. Who asked for that? A pity because the NUC engineering is phenomenal and superior to other SFF solutions, so I don't want to be negative and I also want to say the good things. I will mention 3 key ingredients of the NUC Dragon that are superior for SFF enthusiasts compared to other solutions: 1 - The compute element (with cooler) is clearly thinner than a mini-itx board (with cooler). Best in class for SFF. 2 - The separated baseboard offer a world of possibilities for custom builds. 3 -The ability to have both Thunderbolt and DDR4 integrated in the same LG1700 board (not to mention 10Gb Eth) is currently pretty unique and very desirable for SFF enthusiasts. The other mini-itx manufacturers force us to use DDR5 if we want Thunderbolt, which at this moment in time is absurd. So I think those designs are great, but I am afraid all this effort has been wasted by the marketing model, at least for the market it is supposed to go for. Basically the marketing department got this marvel from the engineers that was designed for "SFF enthusiasts" and they converted it into a product for "beginners wanting to show off". That is partially ok because somebody has to pay for this, but they should also think about the true SFF enthusiasts isn't it? Don't forget that SFF enthusiast reviews have a very big influence on beginners, and I bet with the current marketing model these reviews are going to be pretty negative. In any case thanks for the video, it's really a good video (much better than Intel keynotes) and it is great to know the team behind this technical marvel.

650w psu. 12gen i7, i9. Not sure if it's a good combo when your emphasis is on power. Not to mention how it actually thermal throttles too...

So, basically, this is all a compromise since Intel doesn't have SoC yet. I am sure they will in the next few years.

Where is the graphics card? What is the point without it? We are all awaiting ARC. Or Serpent Canyon...
@farishanafiah8461
@farishanafiah8461 2 жыл бұрын
You have to buy the graphic card yourself. It's not going to be a built-in soldered unit like the RTX 2060 Max-P inside the NUC 11 Enthusiast. As for the ARC, no one knows when that will happen.

I've had the NUC 12 Extreme i7 for a few weeks now and was wandering about upgrading the CPU to the i9. Is it as simple as me buying the 12900 i9 variant and putting it within the Intel NUC 12 i7? Or should I add thermal paste/update the BIOS? Or is the Compute element slightly different with the i7 variant versus the i9 variant? Would it void the warranty?

Hello! To perform a RAID setup on the NUC12DCMi7, you will need a USB flash drive, the latest Rapid Storage Technology application with Intel Optane Memory interface and drivers available at intel.ly/3XybjRU along with Windows 10/11 64-bit installer. For complete RAID setup procedure, please refer to this helpful article: intel.ly/3XwNXMx You can also check out this article intel.ly/3EBqPE9 for a more detailed description along with videos. seems like no one can tell me if i can get a NUC 12 compute element for my Nuc 9 extreme. I have a nice short quardo P2200 in that box right now with an I7-9750 (6 core). I'd love to just swap out the compute element to keep the same footprint. I do heavy excel work, and moderate photo processing.

I want one of these but also loving the MK t-shirt & the NUC skull hoody, lol... I do think a redesign is needed for the next gen release for compatibilty with gfx cards larger than dual slots (which seems to be the majority of nvidia 30 series cards from AIB's).

Didn't NUCs used to be compact, low-power machines? CPU up to 220W? I think Intel are having to dial up wattage to stay performance competitive.

@@IntelTechnology make a nuc that is a competitor for the ps5 and Xbox in performance close to the same price around 600-800 bucks?
