Happy to see ARC is up and running, looking forward to its release in Q2. Word is drivers are the only reason it's not out yet, and I'm okay with that, do what you have to do to ensure ARC debuts in a way that really forces the market to take it (and Intel) seriously in the GPU market. Also heard it will be priced very competitively which would be wise since until 3rd party reviews hit, the price will definitely affect how many are willing to gamble on a new GPU architecture. For myself, if ARC is priced competitively, I can't wait to get one just because I'm tired of the duopoly in the GPU market and this launch symbolizes something the market has wanted for a long time- a new competitor to shake it up. Thanks for the demo, Bob & Intel.

@Marshall McLuhan Yes, this. People think we have a free market in the US, and that competition fixes everything. But the biggest problem is the anti-market conservatives starting trade wars because we had an incompetent bully who lost the election in 2016 (yet came in and ruined the economy anyway by getting into a pissing contest with China in true gamma-male fashion). Then someone who actually wins elections comes in and gets blamed for all the mistakes of the illegitimate prior regime, even though he's bringing back the free market. Two questions. (1)How is the Ark's hardware-accelerated Cycles rendering speed compared to that of OptiX of Nvidia's $329 RTX 3060? Does Ark at least give us similar price-to-performance? (2)Does Ark provide any hardware-accelerated viewport denoise? On my computer, if I choose "OpenImageDenoise" for viewport denosing, rotating the viewport becomes noticeably laggy. If I set it to OptiX, there is almost no noticeable delay. Also OptiX denosing is noticeably faster than that of OpenImageDenoise on my computer.
@youoob2 жыл бұрын
^^My main point of contention with considering arc as an alternative to a 3060 desktop, right now I'm rendering HD frames at ~2 sec with optix on 2060 rtx (custom bounces) - support for optix gives practical rendering gains at least 2 x in this context, however apparently ARC directly supports OpenImageDenoise! - (which does give better results, provided performance in this example is similar to the flagship card)
@typingcat2 жыл бұрын
@@youoob I posted this a long time ago, and yesterday, I read, on Intel's site, that the hardware ray tracing in Blender is not there yet, but it is in the works, so it will probably arrive in 2023. Also, AMD's hardware ray tracing is confirmed to arrive with Blender 3.5, so the situation is brighter. No more Nvidia monopoly for Blender.
@youoob2 жыл бұрын
@@typingcat Thanks for the update. Ah, does that mean that the ARC770 will only support 'cuda' based rendering as in previous cycles viewport demos, but not hardware based raytracing as with nvidia tensor cores? As I understand the tensor cores in my rtx 2060 laptop card gives blender the boost in optix denoise. (If the 770 can do the equivalent with open denoise and give comparable rendering speed in terms of streaming processors ie cuda core count - I might buy one immediately. If I could get hold of one..
@typingcat2 жыл бұрын
@@youoob I am not expert, but A770 has the ray tracing hardware; it is just the software that enables it in Blender will arrive in the future. I do not know if it will be as fast as OptiX, but maybe that is possible. We will know that in 2023 or 2024.

Hope to see Intel bring more to blender. something we haven't seen in a offline renderer is upscaling, Maybe XeSS could be implemented in the future. Render at 1080p get 4k results would be revolutionary, games shouldn't be the only ones to have upscaling.

Nice idea. An image upscale node for the compositor would be cool!
@SWFT_Salutes2 жыл бұрын
@@BobDuffy I don't know why any other render engines has thought of this. nvidias dlss uses motion vectors and depth maps for upscaling, all things blender and other packages can provide. And why stop at just upscaling, Flowframes is a ai slow motion tool that does a really good job. Intel or someone could figure out how to incorporate the same type of tech in blender and enhance the ai with motion vectors and depth maps so it isn't just guessing. For example you render in cycles at 12 fps and the motion vector and depth pass at 24 so the ai would have reference for the next frames.

there are good ai upscling tools. but it works much better in games and motion. In still images you can see the sacrifice in quality, the artifacts. I've been using Topaz Gigapixel for upscaling which is said to be the best on the current market and it's great for slight enchantsments, but it mainly depends on the contents of the original image, how well can the ai handle it.

And if you can can beat the 3090 or 4090 in Ray Tracing I'm your guy. Also Nvidia has made a hole in the market by ditching NVLink support on RTX 4090 altogether, that allowed for memory pooling with two GPU's in Blender OptiX mode. If you could capitalize on that, it would earn a lot of respect in the 3D production world for you. And staying on open source subject matter, I would suggest you guys check out Godot 4, it's a quickly rising in popularity game engine that runs purely on Vulkan. I think it would be good if your GPU's run without any issues on it. Cheers

The recommended system requirement to use Blender is: 64-bit eight-core CPU, 32 GB RAM, 2560×1440 display, three-button mouse/ pen + tablet, and graphics card with 8 GB RAM. Also, please know that Blender 2.79 runs on systems that support OpenGL 2.1 and above, with recent graphics drivers. To know more, you may directly reach out to Blender. Having that said, the graphics card that is integrated into your system is discontinued and the support is limited to self-help. Media usability that was as good as anything else around and excellent codec compatibility. He basically said that if the gaming experience was better, even if the glitches were delt with, its an excellent budget card for most people that is significantly ahead of unified video. it was good enough it raised his eyebrows and was surprised at it. Better to have ghosts than non working mess of a hardware/drivers for which people paid for.

Apparently they have had silicon on production ready boards working for months, but were waiting on software to mature some. I am ok with that tbh.

come on intel love the step into the GPU game, but we humans like comparison, but of course, you can't do that to use another company name. and how much Gpu are going to be made, a lot of people are willing to wait to get this GPU or upgrade to give you guys a chance, don't screw it up cause if you all screw it up they will go straight back to the other brands and would give you guys a second thought until reviews start reviewing ..... so take note don't screw it up, if its not good and has to be held back for minor improvements hold it back. this is important as ddr5 is now the new, so a lot are waiting to upgrade and wondering if to or just stay on ddr4 platform with pcie4 etc etc.... from the renders the GPU looks very neat and can be aestheticly pleasing to the eye in almost every build situation. next up numbers in gameplay as gamers are the highest buyers of GPUs vs content creators. its 2022 wow us with this GPU performance of tasks it can handle well

This doesn't look that fast, only 32 samples on a relatively simple scene.
