Interesting flow dynamics. When the surge is traveling over a nearly dry stream bed the friction between the water and the bed gravels is enough to slow the flow so that the surface is traveling faster than the base, bringing the debris plug to the head of the flow, but when the surge front hits a deeper pool the basal velocity increases until the water flow starts to outpace the debris plug that is slowing down the surface of the flow, and the debris plug slightly disperses and follows the surge front..

At 8:24, was it just a windy day or is the wind created by the force of the flash flood? I find UT/AZ flash floods fascinating! That so looks likes a dark huge snake or worm just snaking along, up until the waterfall. Had a dam fail once and the water came through my home town... luckily not too much flooding (they had the river lining sand-bagged by the time it hit, thank goodness - though sadly, 1 guy slipped into the water while bagging and was never found, pray for him), but it was the only time I saw water on Broadway bridge (& it had a deep drop beneath it from the falls that literally vanished, til the water level wnet back to normal. Trippy.

Some IDIOT destroyed the natural sounds with an overpoweringly LOUD (excessively LOUD) bass thumping tones - music -? Hell that ain't music - it's just totally unwanted sub-woofer thumps. Had to MUTE this at the 0:21 mark and so - not being able to HEAR any natural sounds with that crap over it - I immediately increased the speed to double it (and thus halve or more the total time I had to watch what was left of an otherwise brilliant "now spoiled" natural sounding flash flood) Having doubled the speed for what is essentially SILENT movie - there's now no need to watch as you use the drone incorrectly either - so slipping along the time line - I was able to bypass a lot of wasted video angles too. Buggah - but that could have been a "nice" naturally sounding video - to watch in full length - whereas I spent less time watching - than I did typing out this comment.

In the mid-summer in Utah we almost always have rather randomly located intense afternoon monsoon rainstorms which deposit a large amount of rain in a short time over a geographically limited area.
