There's absolutely no problem in flying a 757 from Amsterdam to Newark. I was flying this route in 2008 and I had the same comfort as flying a 767-400 from Houston to Amsterdam. Great video mate! :)

And for me the 757 is the most beautiful aircraft. The first i've ever flew in. An old 757 back in 2000(+/-)

I'd take a Boeing over an Airbus any day. The 757 is basically becoming obsolete because they're very loud on the inside, but the Rolls Royce engines on those things are amazing. I flew on a 767 to Italy (absolutely loved it) and a 757 back to Newark (flew United). I was much more satisfied with the 767, but I did fly an A321 from Barcelona to Rome and my god those engines are LOUD. Give me Boeing or I'm not going.

Yes, all of United's transatlantic 757 flights are done on PMCO 757-200s which have the same AVOD as their 777s. The 757s are quite nice on transatlantic flights.

I love that sound, and love flying. What does a new 757 go for, $80 million? The most expensive roller coasters in the US are $20 million, so it should be four times the ride, right? Do you sneak out the camera after you're supposed to turn off all electronic devices, or are the flight attendants okay with you recording the takeoff? Thanks for posting.

La Guardia, Newark and JFK are pretty much NYC's Airports even tough Newark is in NJ.... it's a 30 minute drive to the 'holland tunnel' (which i as a dutchman love btw) They UA only uses the 787 to Amsterdam from Boston if im not mistaken. I live 15 kilometres (10 miles) away from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, all the airplanes fly over my house.

don't know where this thread is going. This plane is def powered by RR RB211's (engine cowl, sound, attachment). UA, NW, and DL all are powered by PW2000, but when United merged with Continental, they acquired RR engines on all 757 Continental aircraft
@markusschult65138 жыл бұрын
Yes!! Indeed great "ROARING" take-off was breathtaking. But netherelses during the flight across the pond you,ve got a seat which must be very loud. Because you was seating directly in front of the allready (sadly this I must mention it here) very aged engines. 6 hours and 25 minutes surely was a very short flight.
@calvinrovinescu616611 жыл бұрын
@chase, remember this about the airbus a320 family planes, if yo claim that Boeing planes' engines are quieter then you must be wrong. The a320, a321 in your case, uses either cfm56 or IAE v2500 engines. The cfm are also used on the 737 which In some cases might be ever so slightly quieter since the engines are somewhat newer but that usually makes no difference. For the IAE engines, they are quieter than the cfms so there is no possible way that Boeing planes are much quieter than Airbus. And also remember that on the 767 and bigger chances are you aren't as close to the engine which may make it seem quieter.

Heard a rumor that the next clean sheet Boeing airliner is going to be a legitimate 757 replacement. I am guessing this may be the 797, which is most likely single aisle, long haul capable, much better fuel economy.
@1nsertTitleHere10 жыл бұрын
The 737 Max is intended to replace the 757s domestic use. I have no idea what will replace them for trans-atlantic service.
@ecoRfan10 жыл бұрын
737 MAX will be doing domestic / shorter flights, and yes, United has a whole stash of MAX-9's on order.

airbus343X A lot of "long thin routes" depend on the 757-200's. They are certified for a cruising range of 3,900 nautical miles, more than a 739MAX or 321neo, and can by far outperform both of those planes on short runways and "hot and high" air fields. But with the 757 planes aging, plus their unimpressive fuel mileage, Boeing has a big opportunity to catch up and dominate those "long thin routes" with a new single-aisle long-range plane, presumably the 797.
@zuerichspotter10 жыл бұрын
ecoRfan yes exactly! I hope so! But they shouldn't ruin the design of the 757 :'( :D

United Airlines should replace the Boeing 757 currently used on the New York/Newark-Amsterdam route with a Boeing 787 'Dreamliner' or a Boeing 767-300ER, given the transatlantic city-pair is a heavily-traveled international route.

Wow a 757 flying from Newark to Amsterdam ? Wel I guess if you have small G5s making that trip a 757 can make it also. In the early 90s when jet fuel was chump change they would put 747s on domestic routes. However when I book my plane tickets going to Europe I make sure the plane is a 777,747, 767 or a large Airbus plane.
