I think it's a really common feeling where a lot of people feel shame and embarrassment of having to use government assistance, especially if they've only ever heard people talking about how people who need welfare are "lazy" or that they're just abusing the system. So when they actually need to use it themselves, it's very uncomfortable and shameful for them. Hopefully this experience has given her a better perspective on welfare now. And I mean we all pay taxes for this safety net, so when you gotta use it, you gotta use it
