these doctors do so much, and are underapreciated. my dad was admitted into the ICU in febuary and stayed there for around 2 weeks. he had a cardiac arrest and because of god and these wonderful doctors work, he made it out alive. amern and bless the souls who work here

I was in the ICU 2 years ago. What I thought was just the flu turned into covid then pneumonia then severe ARDS. My lungs were filled with fluid and at one point my O2 got into the 60s. Had to go on a ventilator and nearly died. When I woke up, the staff was overjoyed to see me alive. One doctor nicely joked that he wanted a pic with me. No one thought I would make it. I still get flashbacks from the sedation and drugs I was on. Thought the hallucinations were real. My family never gave up on me and I'll never forget their faces when they saw me off the ventilator. I still go back on the anniversary of my extubation and bring the ICU staff donuts. I'm alive only by the grace of God.

I’m so grateful for these doctors, I’m 14 and I was dying in the ICU a few months ago and it felt like they were really careful and looked out for me and my mom. They tried to explain everything as clearly as possible when they were in the dark and kinda unsure themselves and made a scary experience feel safe. Yeah, it was loud and scary and very overstimulating and Also a life shattering amount of money to pay but those doctors and nurses saved my life and I’m forever grateful for that. We actually tried to leave because I felt fine, but they refused and told me I was dying. I wasn’t at all aware how badly my state was because of how much my body and the people around me normalized it. Everyone listen to your body and your doctors!

I had 2 blood clots in my brain & I had to experience what it's like in the ICU. This was in the midst of the Covid pandemic so no family could be up there with me. I had less then a 25 % chance of living. They went above & beyond and treated me Like family. I appreciate every nurse & doctor that saved my life. Not to mention God , God was the only reason I made it out..

I was in the ICU back in July because I have epilepsy and had a seizure at work that lasted almost 10 minutes and nearly killed me. The nurse told me I woke up for about a minute and then had 3 more seizures in the ambulance. When we got to the hospital, they admitted me because I was going in and out of consciousness and couldn't make decisions for myself. At the time, it genuinely felt like I had hit rock bottom. My life was never going to be how it was before this. I'm grateful to the doctors and nurses there that literally saved my life, but it was still probably the most traumatizing experience of my life and I'm only 22.

My youngest daughter had minor surgery and had a severe allergic reaction to anesthesia.. she crashed and was placed on life support ... She was in a coma.. her team was outstanding... they all worked together in her.. Drs , nurses , respitory , labs , pastors and more.. I was allowed to stay with her the entire time..She spent over 2 weeks on life support .. she had an IV line in her neck , monitors , my daughter did wake up and when she no longer required ET tubes to breathe she was transferred out of ICU..

My mom was sent to 3 different hospitals for her fatty liver disease. The last hospital she was at they thought she was doing better but she ended up turning for the worst having cihrossis of the liver. They ended up taking her to ICU where she spent the remaining 2 days of her life in before having to tell me and out family she wasn’t gonna make it during the night. Me and some family members ended up having to drive quickly to this hospital which was a couple of hours away because we lived in the country to pull the plug in my dying mother before it was too late. We ended up getting there in the brink of time and we said our goodbyes before pulling that plug and watching her go....It was the worst thing I’ve ever experienced in my life

@@SM-cs4bn mum passed January 2020. You just gotta stay positive but also prepare for the worse like gather as much family as you can and surround your mother. Also push your doctors to do thier very best medically to get your mum out of ICU and ask them to be upfront with worse case scenarios. This allows you to prepare mentally rather than shock and frozen if somethimg happens to your mother. Thats just from my experience.

I had a critical illness and was in a coma, paralyzed, and had a tracheostomy. The hospital staff allowed a male stranger off the street in my room bc he said he was a pastor. He was not a pastor and neither I nor my family knew him! My family learned about it a few weeks later. I was terrified thinking he would return. The hospital admitted it happened. I was hospitalized 55 days altogether. I complained to the staff but they didn’t care. I tell this to let everyone know one is not safe in a hospital. I did file a complaint with JCAHO and the policy of just letting someone who ‘says’ they are a pastor in someone’s room without asking family may have changed. But I will never trust a hospital again. Beware of leaving your loved alone!!
