To avoid being logged out, I use a chrome extension called tab reload, which would reload the tab in time intervals set at your discretion

a brief update: tab reload does not seem to work well with background tabs anymore. I checked alternatives and many of them requested permission to read all the website's content, which I think is unnecessary for such a basic extension and also dangerous when it comes to banking. In in end, I settled for "tab auto refresh", which does not require to read the website and reliably does what it should.

Hi Andrej, yes I would recommend you to convert to USD at a lump sum manually to save you the cost for repetitive conversion for each individual trade. Re your conversion during trade, you will still be charged 2 USD, its just bundled in such a way you didnt see the 2 USD subtracted from your cash balance. Hope this clarifies!

So it is better to deposit in the currency that you use. Ex, if you invest in US stock market deposit US dollars, if you invest in EU, desposit euro and so on. Otherwise you have to convert on the website

If u r not option trader delayed data is just fine for u. But for me I will not use IB trading option due to delayed data and also difficult to navigate P&L, Realized Profit % with this interface. Charting is even worst and not responsive. Only for long term holder I would say yes.

Hi Joanne, may I know where are you from and what currency account you have? Assuming you are from Malaysia/Singapore, you can fund SGD/USD into IB and convert to HKD. Otherwise, if you have a HKD currency account, you can directly fund into IB as well.

Far far more useful than contacting IBKR. I've been using SAXO for years so I am used to my account being funded and being able to trade straight away. With IBKR I could'nt understand why I was'nt able to trade as soon as I had funded my account. Each time it would come up with a message saying I needed to get a margin account and or that I had unsettled cash. So basically once you've funded your account in USD or AUD, you have to wait 2 days before you can trade? What a pain.. SAXO is such a rip off, so I guess it's worth the wait.

Hi Foysha, cash settlement upon funding should be T+1 ya, thats pretty standard across many broker. Though not gonna lie there is a learning curve before you get used to IBKR's platform - a little bit complicated, but will be worth it for the long run due to its cost efficiency!

Hi Alex, correcto! Using margin essentially means you're borrowing from IBKR to buy more shares. With $5000, you can indeed buy $10,000 worth of Tesla with 2:1 leverage. However, if Tesla's value drops significantly, you'll face a margin call, requiring you to deposit more money to meet the minimum equity requirement. Hi, you wont! They will just reinvest without paying any dividends, so technically you can treat it like a growth stock, they don't even have any dividend data! The growth is reflected in its share price!

Hi roysten, sorry for the late reply 1) You won't be charged, since you already have USD cash and trading in USD, so no need to for any conversion there! 2) Also not. Base currency is used to pay your conversion fee, has nothing to do with your Cash (USD or SEK) Yes USD cash to buy USD stock in US market, nothing to do with base currency. Hope this clarifies!

Hi there, its not that it is not allowed, it just means that your account needs to have certain requirement to be eligible to trade futures and options (usually in the form of net liquidation value, to conform with the regulations). Hi Tom, interesting observation and that could be due to a multitude of reasons: 1. The price on tradingview could be slightly delayed 2. The share price shown on IBKR is delayed (if you don't have live market data subscription on ASX) Hope this clarifies!

@@ZietInvests Ziet your explanation would be fine for Market orders, but don't make sense for a Limit order. ASX / Aus govt probably has a fee per trade (levy) which is independent of IBKR's cut. I trade HK market and there are other costs such as Levy beyond Bid/Ask spread, currency conversion and broker fee. Good news is there is no capital gains tax in HK.

Would like to chk, i’m a singapore resident unable to open Ikbr LLC account with singapore assets and i can open only with ibkr sg. Is there any implication , if i move to different country - do i need to switch/ withdraw all my portfolio to new account again?

Hi there, that is totally normal since MAS SG limit all Singaporeans to open under IBKR SG, but there is very little to no implication yea, its mostly financial regulation limitations set by the authority, not a big deal if you ask me. When you move to another country, no need to shift/migrate your account, it will stick with your IBKR account regardless or IBKR US, IBKR SG or whichever ;)

Hi there, I don't trade forex/precious metal so I can't really provide you with an accurate answer :x You can however try with their simulation (free) account to see if it gets the job done for you, from what I know, active stock traders find IBKR handy (when they subscribed live market data) since they provide the lowest cost structure compared to any other broker, but thats for stocks

i found another big IB issues, if you cancel an buy order, the cash could not be used to buy orders if you are not in the trading hours of these securities, do you have same problems?

Hi there, you fund your account with EUR? That EUR.USD could just be showing your USD equivalent worth (for your EUR cash) - do check with IBKR live support incase its not the case!

Hi there, depends on the LSE ETF, if they are denominated in GBP then yes convert to GBP cash, but if denominated in USD then just trade with your USD cash!

Hi there, great to have viewers from Romania! With an IBKR Pro account, you can indeed trade forex directly with your EUR account; no need to convert to USD. As for the Pattern Day Trader (PDT) rule, it primarily applies to stocks and options, not forex. Hope this helps!
