A square root has 2 indistinguishable results though. Ignoring that it would be more like: zlast=sqrt(z-c-zlastlast)

I think it is z(n+1) = conj(z²)+c It has it's own wiki entry: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tricorn_(mathematics) I didn't know that until after I uploaded the video though. :-|

Either way I believe it will be featured prominently in the upcoming part 5 of my "Interactive Burning Brot"-series. I'm assuming you mean the feature you can see in part 4 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaGtoHlriL97apI) between section C6 and D7. What are you using to render and mix fractals? No votes on future series?
