I discovered your channel through Steve Joorden's Introduction to Psychology course on Coursera. I can't say I'm the biggest fan of his KZbin recommendations, but these videos are the exception in spades! Thank you so much for creating and sharing these for free :)

Isn't temporal lobe meant for auditory functions? So how does it recognize faces ?

Exactly! The speaker probably explained it wrong :P

+Deepali Barapatre The presenter is right. If you google what part of the brain recognizes faces you will see - "The temporal lobe of the brain is partly responsible for our ability to recognize faces. Some neurons in the temporal lobe respond to particular features of faces. Some people who suffer damage to the temporal lobe lose their ability to recognize and identify familiar faces. This disorder is called prosopagnosia."

+Natasha AndCompany Sure! We are always learning about the brain. I think some people forget we have left and right Hemispheres of the brain and left sided damage is different from right sided damage. Right sided damage can result in pragmatic and visual field, picture and face recognition problems. While left sided damage results in language, comprehension and speaking difficulties (Aphasia). Note: It is also dependent on which Hemisphere is dominant. The Brain is such an interesting study. :)

Three years has passed, and now I'm a cognitive cannibal. Well, actually we are called human beans now, but it's the same thing. I have never watched a justin bieber video in my life, and I don't think, that is going to change. Did you get some good use out of your psychology course?
