It's such a long trip that the schedule allows some leeway. Happened to me as well: my train from Pisa got 40 minutes late, but then recovered almost half an hour, and it rolled into Milan just as my connection was leaving...

Stunning railway journey - beautifuly reported. Brings back great memories of travelling over there on the Freccia del Sud, Piepoli, Scilla, Trinacria, Mongibello, Palatino, Montecarlo, Conca d'Oro, Treno dell'Etna etc etc - pitty the trains don't run through the Naples coastal railway and city tunnels anymore nowadays.

@FSantoro912 жыл бұрын
AFAIK, a single sleeper coach was found to be infested with lice around 2013; the news got national (and international) coverage, and from then on it has grown to an urban legend that ALL sleeper trains in Italy are infested with lice. I've traveled multiple times on sleeper trains since at least 2008 and it has never occurred to me once.

@gerri_c2 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I think that the lice issue is presented in a somewhat unfair way. As an Italian and train enthusiast I had never heard of lice before: I did some research and apparently it happened in 2013 that a car was found to be infested, and that made it to the news and caused scandal. Not the excuse the inexcusable but if one were to judge from this video... Re the air conditioning I think it might be subjective and different people may find it more or less effective depending on their habits: probably too mild for an American but fine for a European, except if it's malfunctioning. Also note that they have the window frequently open to take shots of the outside. Besides, the video is overall still very nice 🙂
@darioa.53812 жыл бұрын
The lice problem is simply not true. This guy must be anglo-saxon, they are notorious for thinking by stereotypes without ever checking. A single car in 2013 has become something "notorious"... Typical of racism-based societies.

The second locomotive is trailing (not powered) loco, so essentially only one loco is in charge for this train.
I have a suggestion. I am following a lot of Japanese train channels here on KZbin, and there are many content creators there who put their camera in the window and film the entire journey on the slepper trains. I think the longest video is about 18 hours. Many of those videos feature old sleeper trains that are no longer in service, so the viewers are able to experience what it was like to go on these journeys. I myself regret that I never got this idea when I travelled on various sleeper trains back in the day. I don't travel much anymore sadly, which is why those japanese videos are amazing. I would absolutely love to see similar videos from Europe. Here is an example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaK3nHaknZ6msNU

You seem to have completely forgotten about 'The Pearl of the Caucasus' series! That's the issue with your channel: Rather than finishing one series, you publish a dozen other trip reports, and by the time you release the next episode in that series, everyone has forgotten the previous episode. Why not release new episodes of a series everyweek, then start another series. That's how you hold on to your audience.
@doc7austin2 жыл бұрын
If I released another episode of the "pearl of the caucasus" series, I would be attacked and harrassed being a Putin Troll; That's why part 5,6,7 will only be released once the war situation and emotional hysteria has calmed down
@ziaurkhan99082 жыл бұрын
@@doc7austin I realized that fact when I wrote my previous comment. It's unfortunate that content about Russia can lead to toxic comments from the KZbin community. I don't think the war there is ending anytime soon, so, it's likely we won't be able to see those episodes. 🙁 Nevertheless, keep up the good work and next time finish a series sequentially, witin a short period of time, because things in the world change too quickly.
