For those who are inclined towards opening a interest-free account in India, they have to open current account in conventional banks (as there are no Islamic banks in india) because as per RBI regulations, banks should mandatorily give interest on saving bank accounts. From my experience, banks generally provide current accounts only for business purposes (corporates, shops, etc). There are 2 personal accounts (current accounts) present right now which are specifically launched keeping in view of Muslim faith (non-interest). 1) Federal bank Noor personal account 2) South Indian bank fiza account. I believe, we Muslims should stay away from savings accounts as much as possible and open current accounts (OR the personal accounts).

Interest is haram on people who take it and use it for their benefit or for their loved ones. I wonder why would it be haram for anybody else given as charity. If you leave interest money in the bank, it will be enjoyed by the bank owner(s) or share holders if it is a public owned enterprise. May ALLAH open the frozen minds from this ummah :(

Thank you for your comment on intrest...but onecthing i wantvto makecit clearcto all..that the so caalled intrest declared by bank in india is regulated and declared by resrve bank..and it is related to the inflation that is why it is being annonced every 3 months.so in fact it is less than the inflation yes all other type which is not regulated byvreserve bank of india iecby govt.are pure comes under intrest and usury
