@Michael_NV Druckenmiller was *right* about bonds. Bond valuation can be a little confusing, and I'm not a PhD, but this is how I understand it: You buy a 10 year bond at 4.5%, a few months later, the rate for 10 year bonds goes up to 4.7%. Your bond is worth less now than it used to be. That is because people looking to buy a 10 year bond would rather get 4.7% instead of your 4.5%. So, in order to sell your bond today, you'd have to price it lower. Make sense? So when Druckenmiller says he is short bonds, he is saying bond rates should be expected to increase!

I see the rising interest rate as a very big problem, as more investors will definitely pull out more money from the Stock market. This might have worked when I was still invest-ing with a couple thousand dollars, but it is more difficult now to decide whether to pull out more than $365k from my port-folio. I think the whole thing about holding stocks for long term will always apply. So I think you should get a quality broker who is able to analyze and pick stocks that will do well in the long term, else you will be in a long bear ride.

I have been hearing US going broke for at least 20 years since the day followed internet news. But since then US is going stronger, richer by day. Rules, laws, principles are not the same for every country, P/E ratios and hundreds of valuation parameters are not applicable to all companies. You could be right about the strength/weakness of country wealth but has no effect on the stocks.

The debt will be partially inflated away. As Charlie Munger said "If I can be optimistic when I am nearly dead, sure you can handle a little inflation". No need to despair, keep buying assets and compound

Interest payments from the US debt (higher rates now and from 2024 to 2026 I believe around 15 trillion is due and note Yellen issued short term T bills rather than longer dates bonds when interest rates were lower before the now close to 5 handle)…..but in 2017 interest payments were 8% of US Government revenue and now doubled to 16% and around 1 trillion per year, more than the defence budget with deficits up to 2 trillion more per year. This is a timely video and will not end well. This is why I have gold and T bills and even bonds paying a 3 to 4% no risk for now return. And of course stable dividend paying value stocks but am avoiding all tech as Tesla PE of 120 and P/S of nearly 15 and apple P/E was 38 now below 35 but past 3 years has had aggregate 5% revenue growth, well we have seen this story play out before. Your video confirms my analysis of the data. And your sweater today is much better than yesterday’s :)

Having good returns is nice, making sure you survive is a necessity. Due to the unpredictability of the future and the fact that a downturn usually takes the path of maximum destruction, I believe that there is space in a portfolio for different strategies that contemplate different scenarios. That is one reason I also have long duration Bonds IEF and TLT. Today it seems to be the contrarian view. We'll see.

Good call. 5% yield and 5% buyback but the discounted cash flow model has current value at $3.88 because growth only 1.8%. Spot is $10.14. Very healthy balance sheet, I think I'll start DCA on a red day.

@@happyfisherman7613 Yep, low debt. DCF with cyclicals is sort of tough since its not linear. In a down year 2024 earnings ~40M at market cap .44B so PE ~11. Next cycle could be 100-200M earnings. Which means 1-2B market cap at PE of 10. You can see the small and larger cycles in the stock price which comes from the earnings volatility. Risks would be legal, longer cycle etc.

Linear DCF model is tough with cyclical because it's not linear. In the next cycle they could make 100-200m which means 1-2B market cap at 10 PE. You can see those cycles in the past.

Market's too volatile for my tastes. I mean, they spent the last two years whining about higher interest rates, yet the market maintained an admittedly impressive 🐂run throughout it. Wall Street even conceded maybe higher for longer wasn't such a bad thing after all. They don't seem to look forward to trump's tariffs all of a sudden. Anyways with higher interest rates U.S. households purchased a record $2.4T in short term Treasuries. That's a whole lot of T-billin' and Chillin'. So I'd say the economy wasn't looking too shabby under the Biden Administration. With those upcoming tariffs inflation's definitely making a comeback. I don't see how Feds will stay on track for any more rate cuts. I'll give it till April. By then they'll either cut or hike, depends on first three CPI Reports.

Sven i Agree on all the concepts. But the biggest government in the world won't go broke. There will be scary moments for sure. But in case of emergency, FED will buy US bonds. You may say.. yes but the currency will drop... But even if it drops 20% against Euro (to make an example), it will revert to 2021 level. At the moment the rest of the world is too weak to challenge the world reserve currency status. But someday there will be a recession, 1-2-3 years from now, nobody knows. And when recession happens, Stocks will go down and treasuries will go Up.
