Сегодня мы поговорим о прекрасном Храме Василия Блаженного. Официально он называется Храм Покрова Пресвятой Богородицы что на рву, но, конечно, в народе просто "Собор Василия Блаженного". Он был построен в 16 веке. 1555 - 1561. Указ издал знаменитый русский царь Иван Грозный. За рубежом его называют Иван Ужасный. Храм был построен в честь присоединения к Руси Казани. Казанское Ханство. Оно присоединилось, и в честь этого построили роскошный, прекрасный храм. Существует много версий, много легенд, много историй о том, как строили этот собор. Я расскажу самую известную из них и саму трагическую. Архитекторы, по одной из версий, Барма и Постник, построили прекрасный храм, пришли к царю, и он спросил: "А можете ли вы построить что-то ещё более прекрасное?" И они сказали: "Можем!" Тогда царь разозлился и приказал ослепить их, выколоть им глаза, чтобы они не смогли больше никогда построить что-то красивее этого собора. Скорее всего, это просто легенда, но именно её чаще всего вспоминают, когда речь идёт об этом храме. В советское время его чуть не снесли. Храм был под угрозой. Как вы знаете, в советское время люди были против религии, поэтому большинство храмов были либо превращены в музеи, как, например, Собор Василия Блаженного, либо в продуктовые склады, либо были разрушены, снесены. Чудом Собор Василия Блаженного спасся. И сегодня он открыт для посетителей как музей. Туда всегда можно пройти. И по праздникам или по воскресеньям там проводят церковные службы. Если вы приедете в Россию, обязательно зайдите внутрь. Этот храм прекрасен снаружи, великолепные разноцветные купола... Очень красивый! Но внутри он просто невероятный. Там очень красиво, играет музыка... В общем, обязательно посетите его.

I was wondering if you might do a video on words that sound similar and how to pronounce them slash tell the difference. Such as, цвет vs свет vs цветок And красный vs красивых

цвет and свет doesn't sound similar. There is different sounds in the begining.

Hi Daria. I will have to bone up on my vocabulary. Also I will go to slow learners from now on. St Basil’s magical. From my reading of Russian history all the control of Great Patriotic War came from war room in Kremlin called Stavka. The other side had a likewise war room called OKH and then OKW. Fascinating tour . I will have payment for you tomorrow. Lol

I wonder if you could make a video on a specific Russian emotion, i.e., тоска and скучать. What's the difference between 'я тоскую по маме' and 'я скучаю по маме'?. Тоска is a very strange emotion. It seems to be negative - черная, серая Тоска, but then you have 'сладкая тоска'! I find it so confusing. Thank you!

One of the main old dictionaries of the Russian language. Explanatory dictionary of Ozhegov online. slovarozhegova.ru/word.php?wordid=29059 тоска - душевная тревога, уныние, горе. (it's like melancholy, grief) скука - от отсутствия дела или интереса к окружающему, отсутствие веселья (it's like apathy, indifference) This dictionary is more effective. wiktionary.org ru.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D1%81%D0%BA%D1%83%D1%87%D0%B0%D1%82%D1%8C

I first time I saw this building I was amazed. You can look at all the pics and vids of it but there's nothing like the first time you come around the corner next to the GUM and WHAM!! One of the most beautiful structures ever created by humanity. 7th wonder of the world. No picture will do it justice.

One of my favorite runs in Moscow was going through Red Square, passed St. Basil then down to the Moscow river and running along the river. Great run.

I must clarify that it is not all that bad in Moscow or even in a remote city like Kurgan, where I have largely been. It is still very good when compared to my native India, but yet behind Europe/USA in some aspects. I must admit that I was happily surprised to see Moscow buses that tilt at the bus stops to make it easy for handicapped and old people to get in (in fact I even saw a wheelchair-bound couple traveling all alone). I saw ramps, barrier-free roads, curb cuts, and other such accessibility features. :)
