Pulling Mussels From A Shell is great. You really could pick any of their songs at random and not be disappointed.

The lead vocalist on this one is Paul Carrack (he also sang 'The Living Years' for Mike and the Mechanics) who was not a regular member of the band at the time, but was suggested for it by producer Elvis Costello. The middle verse is the audio is a duet between regular lead vocalist Glen Tilbrook and Costello (Tilbrook's songwriting partner Chris DIfford in the video). My favorite from Squeeze is 'Another Nail In My Heart', and 'Cool for Cats' is a lot of fun! (The latter featuring Difford on lead vocal.)

Squeeze, one the bands of the second British Wave in the late 70's early 80's. They had this song and Black Coffee In Bed that come to mind. It was cool having different singers in this song. It was a good dance tune and a good song at a house party. The lead singer has been part of several groups Paul Carrack · Warm Dust · Ace · Squeeze · Mike + The Mechanics · the Bleeding Heart Band · Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band

Paul and Squeeze must have known they had a hit with this one. Always loved how tight the pocket is and how the engineers didn’t ruin it. What a gem… ✨

Squeeze is one of my favourite bands. Not only is there catchy music but the lyrics often have a sophistication. I strongly urge you to try, "Is That Love?" and, "Up The Junction".

Squeeze was always a group of great musicians, very tight and creative. Seemingly simple music with excellent lyrics. I agree with all the suggested songs, but the first one to pop into my head was “Black Coffee in Bed.”

There is no stranger feeling then being married and being a a work party, or out with your boys, and suddenly the woman you've known from work or a bar says something that you can feel the vibe of what she means. It's like cold water running down your back. It's like those old cartoons where an Angel is on one shoulder and the Devil on the other. The best thing to do is get your car keys and head for home....alone.

I have this on their greatest hits CD and listened to it a lot when I was commuting to university. Then we have crowded house and the fixx, which I think both are related. Just an amazing bunch of musicians and so interesting and unique. ❤ Another really interesting band who is unique is Cake.

There was a time when Difford and Tilbrook were thought of by some as the New Wave Lennon and McCartney. They were far too smart and elegant for pop music and too British for many audiences but did have a cult following here in Canada.
