Lovely intro! So wonderful to see you enjoying the hot springs. I would imagine during the winter your showers aren’t as warm or long as you’d like them to be and I’m pretty sure you don’t have a bathtub. Very comforting to be floating around in warm water, kind of like a nurturing hug from Mother Nature. Ok back to the rest of the video! :) **edit- wow the ice sculptures are amazing! Loved all of them! So much respect for the artists that designed and carved them. Just think you two were floating around in hot water earlier in the day and then went to visit the “gallery” of ice carvings. How magnificent is this beautiful planet??!!??!!??!! 💕💕💕

I really want to thank you for all your posts. We just finished our trip to Fairbanks and saw the World Ice Art Championships. They were amazing and the hot springs were the best I have ever experienced. For my wife being able to see the spectacular Aurora Borealis in person was the dream of a lifetime. And the train from Fairbanks to Anchorage was my favorite part. We loved our time in beautiful Alaska.

This brought back so many memories of my childhood! I was born and raised most of my life on chena hot springs rd. When I was young there was so few ppl living on that road that we where able to hunt on chena hot springs road. We drove to the springs several times a week. At that time there was the pool and the natural springs with the original cabin that they built when the man who found it staked his claim on the land. When he came back to claim the land it took him a month by River to find the steam of the springs. They have done a lot to make it look beautiful with the rock pond. The hiking to the peaks change your life. And the northern lights in the winter feel like they are so close they are going to reach out and touch you. Thanks for sharing. It reminded me I need to visit my roots💚 Another fact is they are completely self sufficient. They produce their own energy, food for the restaurant, and their employees that live on the 300 acre property. It is a really special place. Magical 💚

I took my first trip to Alaska from the midwest in February with my 70+ year old mother. It was on her bucket list to experience Alaska and ride on a dog sled, which we did along with many other adventurers. You both inspired me to rent a dry cabin (also in the North Pole area and moose just off the porch) so we could watch the northern lights each night we got back from our daily excursions. We also got to see a lot of the sculptures you shared in this video being worked on by the artists at their early stages. The entire trip is an experience I will never forget and hope to repeat. Thank you for continuing to share the beauty and truth of Alaska.

As a youth in hot Texas I worked at an ice company and since I had been working with ice since I was 11, I often received requests to carve a 300 pound block into art pieces for display at events. Once the piece was carved, I placed it in a special decorated drain basket and shined colored lights on it for effect as it slowly melted. Fun stuff.

Thanks to the two of you I am getting a sense of Alaska. I never "got" Alaska before now. What an incredible state! I am too old, but if I were younger I would move there. It is so beautiful and take-your-breath-away magical. Those were incredible, amazing, world class sculptures -- amazing, amazing, amazing. I look at your calendar every day, several times a day, and think "Ariel stood there and took that shot. It is a real everyday place. If I was standing there, that is what it would look like."

The most relaxing vacations are the ones with a change of scenery & a big disruption to everyday routine & it doesn't really matter how far away you have to go to get that. You're lucky that there is an easily accessible place relatively nearby (well, in Alaska terms) that offers such a radical change for a winter getaway. True, there aren't any swaying palm trees to go with the warm water there, but then it doesn't take two full days of exhausting, expensive air travel getting there & back either. Yall should make this an annual expedition.
