This home is stunning! I think you do a great job with hanging with the homeowners and letting them be themselves. I wonder if your love of beauty, art and design is blinding you from the fact that this is not at all a home that has design that is within reach for the average person. Yes you can grab a piece here and there and put it in your home but the focal point of a home like this is in fact the home itself which doesn't tend to bring a feeling of "yes I feel like this is relatable to me and my home" More of "that is a gorgeous home outside of my reach." It just seems like your home tours are getting more into the wealthy parts of the country instead of the everday person...so maybe this series is Design within reach for the wealthy?...Nothing wrong with wealth just a bit off putting to put homes like this in a series called that. Hope that makes sense. I loved the other homes that really did seem to be within reach that you've done.

Very true! It takes a lot of money to even by a home where this little castle is located in Berkeley with that view! This is for sure more gear to middle upper class two strong incomes help from the parents to buy the house and for rich people. Most of my "rich" friends that have beautiful houses like this one have had help from their families. It's nice but going back to your point all you can do watch it for ideas and inspiration for your own home! 🤩

We started this series as a spin-off of Open Door by AD, where they tour billionaire homes with limitless budgets. While this home is definitely more upscale compared to others we’ve featured, the homeowners still worked within a budget, and we believe there’s plenty of inspiration here for anyone, no matter their budget. That said, we totally understand where you’re coming from, and we’ll definitely keep this in mind for future tours. Our goal is to show a mix of homes that can feel within reach for different groups of people, and we’re trying to strike that balance to speak to a variety of tastes and income levels. I definitely would have gone for inset cabinets throughout. The cabinet doors sitting over the top of the frame always looks cheap. Otherwise this is a beautiful home and they are blessed to be living there.

I think it’s great they let people express the selves and show the house like they want people to perceive it. I love sharing all about my home when people come over and ask and I can talk. People want to hear my story. It’s refreshing from interviews when the host hardly lets their guest answer. Also I think some of the questions are off camera and they just show more of the clips of them answering.
