I just tried Lithium Inner Space interior protectant today for the first time. My 4 year old Chevy Blazer black leather is always clean, but it was looking a little tired. This Inner Space (US company) really conditioned the leather and plastic trim making it darker and richer with a satin non-greasy appearance. It cost $25 for 16oz, which is a little pricy, but I was very impressed with the results with a back to brand new look. I’m not sure if Lithium products are available in the UK, but it’s definitely a different experience over any mild interior detailers I have used in the past. It’s more of a conditioner than a cleaner. I’m like you Jon. A quick wipe with a mild cleaner on a regular basic keeps everything looking fresh without a lot of work or the need for harsh chemicals and aggressive scrubbing.

I never recommend APCs for interiors because of the risk of discoloration of sensitive materials. Seen too many horror stories. There are just TOO MANY GREAT interior cleaners designed by chemists who know what they’re doing for me to waste my time worrying about that. Just find a couple of really good interior cleaners you like & use those. APCs be damned for interiors. Thx for your educated opinion on the subject!

I thought I’m the only one who thinks it’s crazy to spray APC or foam onto buttons and interior - better yet steam clean it… none of those buttons are supposed to have soaking fluid into them. Thanks!

I use P&S Xpress Interior for all interiors now. Yes it foams but I always wipe 90% away with a damp microfibre and the remaining just evaporates and doesn’t leave any staining. Yes I was influenced by the US detailing channels 😅

Thanks for your consistent no-BS approach Jon. Today’s world with social media does seem to push the most hyped up click-baity crap doesn’t it. Are those microfibres you’re using for the interior any particular type?

Hi Jon, do you think it is possible to test what damage steam cleaning does to fabric fibres and electronics? It’s always seemed like overkill to me!
@forensicunplugged42957 ай бұрын
Hmm well.if it's used carefully should be ok m8 but if used wrong can overheat

Instagram detailing videos are like those wheel cleaning videos you get on KZbin, colored snowfoams and speeded up to make it into a KZbin short to draw people in 😉😂. 👍
@forensicunplugged42957 ай бұрын
I had the first viral shorts video using foams and colored foams and using colored foams to clean wheels (was just messing around and thought it would be funny). They went viral and then all the tiktok and reels channels jumped on it and hammered it.
@79blustone7 ай бұрын
@forensicunplugged4295 I'm only messing 😉. To be honest, I don't do social media. It's a deprived wasteland full of other people's rubbish. KZbin is different. I find it's more educational and in better spirit- mostly.

its an all out and out copy fest mate. All new channels just copy the existing ones. YT insta tiktok all set up now to make creating content easy by giving tools to rehash the content you watch. Its a battle to draw in the most content creators because where the content is, will be where the audience is. In a bid to make non creative people creative they have just killed it for the rare few that are creative. long format content is dying.
@79blustone7 ай бұрын
@forensicunplugged4295 I really don't think you and your channels have anything to worry about. Because of your technical finesse, people cannot replicate your talent. Your channel goes further, digs deeper, and gives us the viewers and education in a fun way. This is why loads of us throughly enjoy what you do. Plus your content is varied including all of the DTC content too, I particularly liked the journey with just yourself and Dan chatting away in his 996. You just don't get that anywhere else. I also really enjoy it when you have compared and had a massive comparison test digging really deep into a range of products to see how they work. You just do not get this anywhere. I really really like what you do. Top man Jon. 🙌👍

Alcantara is a piece of piss. Little cleaner on your leather brush and gently work, wipe, work, wipe, work, wipe. P.s. Gyeon leather cleaner is also safe for Alcantara. Was shown how to do it properly by a Gyeon rep.

Surfex HD. Except on leather. Use a dedicated cleaner and leather brush and just gently work, wipe, work, wipe until its gone

make up remover on a microfibre, or make up remover wipes - finish off with any APC - those wipes are designed to do the job on your face - why not inside the car?
@AntEloftheHouseofEl7 ай бұрын
@ToshYusaf be very careful with that, because whilst the chemicals have been formulated to be skin safe, they can have some unusual side effects on fabrics and plastics, like staining.

Detailing an interior? Providing the seats aint being removed, I follow these steps: 1. Bog brush on the drill, do the seats and floor 2. Thorough vacuum throughout 3. Surfex HD on floors and seats if required 4. Scrub with drill brush 5. Let soak for 10 minutes 6. Wipe all hard surfaces with damp microfibre with some Surfex, then wipe with clean damp microfibre. 7. Extract floor and seats 8. Microfibre wipe down 9. Once dry, apply dressing of choice. Job done. Spotless.

Bog brush on a drill sounds like a very bad idea for maintenance cleaning its way too agressive and really unneccessary.
@AntEloftheHouseofEl7 ай бұрын
@@MegaFregel I call it a bog brush because that's how it's shaped. But it's an actual detailing drill brush. Sorry, I thought that was evident.
@MegaFregel7 ай бұрын
@@AntEloftheHouseofEl i know what it is. A brush on a drill is too harsh. It introduces unnecessary wear.
