I experienced dusting with Sonax the other day. It did not do that when bottle was new and summer weather here in Ca but i wonder now that the nights are cooler (down into mid 40's) that maybe this caused it? hmm? New pad too! stumped
@MirandaDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Weird. Yeah sometimes I get from a little dusting from some products that usually don’t dust. Too many variables to account for sometimes, so I usually just blow out the pad and add a mist of a pad conditioner like this www.detailground.com/vonixx-glizz-polishing-optimizer-16-9-fl-oz-500ml.html

Paint protection is not paint correction. Removing clear coat does brings paint failure. 👍👍

Next time you work on black honda or another soft sticky and finicky paint, i suggest you to use microfiber cutting pad,but just do 1-2 pass, then you can wipe the residue with finishing pad to buffing in low speed settings. Soft and sticky paint is our main works in Indonesia. But you still did a great job man 👌

Like your straight talking Phil. As you say there are detailers that aim for perfection, but the prices reflect that and is aimed at a wealthier cliental. For us working class its detailers like yourself and Jess that are more realistic. A good service at a reasonable price.

I'm always wary of anyone aiming for perfection.. as to achieve it you often have to sacrifice clear coat to get there and clear coat is the best protection a car will ever had, so my view is always preserve as much as you can while getting a satisfactory finish

Quick question, Phil: what pump sprayer do you recommend for the APC rinse? I don't need anything fancy, but there are so many cheap ones that won't last, it's hard to know where to start. Any basic, simple ones that y'all have had good success with? Thanks!

Hey Phil have you ever run into factory paint problems? I was working on a 2021 dodge truck and using a polishing glaze with a orange pad to refine the paint for a coating and I was spreading it on speed setting 3 and a few seconds into the pass moving quickly it burned straight through … I had to explain to him I may of possibly hit a badly repaired paint repair and he has to take it back to the dealership
@MirandaDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Oh wow! That’s crazy! We haven’t run into that problem on new vehicles yet. But we always inspect the paint and see if anything has been painted. Dang! Sorry that happened to you.

Nice job! I got dusting with P6 AIO, no matter what I did. Did you get any dusting?
@MirandaDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Dusting for me usually comes from my pads not really the product. I have found that blowing out the pads before using them helps. But who knows. Sometimes temps effect polishes. I didn’t get any dusting this time around.
@jerrodrawlinson91972 жыл бұрын
Great videos guys, thank you. Would it hurt if you sprayed the vehicle with apc and then after letting it dwell, go right over it with your foam cannon? Or is that keeping the apc on the paint too long?
@MirandaDetailing2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Well it depend on how dirty the paint is. The idea of doing an APC rinse or pre wash is to soften the gunk on the paint making it easier to rinse away so that it’s off the paint. That way foaming and contact washing is safer. So if it’s just light dirt you may be fine. It we like to rinse that soften dirt off completely and minimize the risk. Does that make sense? 😎👍🏼
@jerrodrawlinson91972 жыл бұрын
@@MirandaDetailing That does make sense, thank you. Get as much of the big stuff off as possible prior to putting your wash mitt on the paint. Thanks again.

DUUDE BRO! That pollen is NASTY OMYGOODNESS, that would make me stuffyNpuffy to say the least, let alone the nightmare its creating on the vehicles ,UHGG Its funny how you mentioned the correct vs enhancement speech, i just went thru similar thing with the customer of that black Ram truck i recently clayed, polished & installed the Lithium Slam on! Anyways, it was hammered with surface swirls and with Sonax PF i was able to reduce swirling @80%, my experience with this customer feeds knowledge that he doesnt wanna pay much for his details. So, at pik up he seemed happy, but yet unsatisfied with the result... after prying a bit he claims that "NOT ALL THE SCRATCHES CAME OUT" (mind you his truck looked like i painted the stinking monster black thing!) so.. i had to frankly tell him, "From my experience with you i knew you would not pay for full correction" (aka 3 layer step process that usually i do with Menzerna 400) and that i explained to him at drop off that i was gonna clay if needed then one step polish & then seal! And its priced accordingly!" " No no i get it it, looks great looks great, Thank you thank you" He repeatedly says yet i know in my head hes unsatisfied! My point is, there is no way i could have sold him on a full correction up front! that large of a truck was already hi priced in his eyes and in the past hes always tried to cut corners to get his price down, so I learned a big lesson here! From now on, i think Ill always mention the full correction price/process and then make it very clear that less is less & come down from there! I'm not quite sure how to fix the situation, I'm not quite sure i even have the confidence yet to sell & approach a full correction, or that my "only novice skill level" can even accomplish FULL correction. Some of that stuff needed wet sanding (I've never done that) and it being black i was worried about holograms etc from too much aggression or improper technique! Mind you this truck looked amazing, ' really", i think i sent you pics, but oh mann, what a let down i had at pik up! leave this open for comment/suggestions cuz I'm stumped Ohh btw, I LOL'd @ the "Look no streaking or smearing part of this vid" your buddy/fan in Nor calif sierras, Andy
@MirandaDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Yeah we had that happen a few times in the past. It definitely taught us to communicate really well and set expectations with the customer before we begin. We always tell them that 100% correction, even with our paint correction is 90%+ which means there will always be something that is either too deep or to severe to remove completely. That way they know not to expect ALL the scratches to be removed. Sorry that happened to you….it’s frustrating. But it also sounds like that customer didn’t really understand polishing and what it takes or costs. I always start with explaining our enhancement service and then go up to the correction service and explain the cost and expectations and then let them decide. I like to before them that our enhancements get 50-75% of the swirls and scratches and the corrections 90%+ that way they have understand. Also it’s good to have a paint depth gauge to back up your findings if the paint is too thin and you can’t remove a certain scratch. If you have all the tools to prove your case they have no reason to deny you. Keep it up man and keep improving! 😎👍🏼
