Barboursville fire companies respond to a working structure fire inside the City of Barboursville in the morning hours of Sunday March 20th, 2022. First in companies had heavy smoke and flames showing and were met with high heat and zero visibility conditions inside the structure. An aggressive interior attack was implemented on arrival and the main body of fire was extinguished rapidly. Companies from Green Valley and Ohio River Road were on the assignment as well.

One minute: Deck gun engaged to reduce heat. Thirty seconds later transition to interior attack. Two minutes later visibility improves. 5min after arrival bulk of the fire is knocked down and water is used selectively to avoid excessive water damage. That's professional fire fighting! Awesome job! Other companies may look and learn.

@@fdMT_EnGy you guys have a brutal job and i would never fully understand what its like unless i was a firefighter myself. I am a commercial refrigeration technician by trade for almost a decade now. the only similarities is when it comes to supermarket refrigeration is the rotating on call. we get way more mandatory overtime than we know what to do with and i have ran 18, 24 and 40 hour straight shifts because we got slammed with calls during a Texas summers first hot snap, or during the first really cold spell in the winter. we get emergency calls too in all hours of the night. yes, the job like any mechanical trade has risks and safety concerns that i constantly discipline myself on. i train the same reason you guys do. to keep me safe and my co workers safe and the customers at the job sites safe as well. however the dangers of this job are pale in comparison. the end point, is working these brutal long hours in the extreme head and cold has gave me a appreciation for what you guys go through. we don't get much free time or time to see our friends or family. and its difficult to balance that and maintain relationships. anyhow keep on fighting fires and saving lives. i appreciate you.

@@theblackenedvoid3539 Thank you. I know exactly what you guys go through, it definitely sucks. My brother in-law does the same thing in VA. It's not a walk in the park. He works his *** off. Even just the driving alone, he puts in some serious mileage every day. Definitely an important job, a lot would not be able to happen were it not for your field. Thank you for that.

That deck gun went in service fast, you stretched your line cleanly and efficiently, you were properly geared up, you guys got in there immediately and in a coordinated fashion, and were hitting fire the whole time. Even though there isn't any visibility, we can hear the steam conversion. Good job brother!

Now this is how you freaking fight fire using that deck gun knocked down that heat inside and made it livable if someone was in there plus it made conditions better for interior crews. A wonderful attack and great communications between the inside crews working. Reminds me of my old crew and how we worked together like that. 30 years and finally retired from volunteer service. Miss it everyday it brings back so many memories especially watching videos like these.

One of the best videos I've seen so are. Loved seeing the deck gun used right away to help knock down the main part of fire while FF's where preparing to go in. Would have been perfect if the FF was already masked up and gloves on when he left the rig. Hose stretch was very fast, but it took another 45 seconds to a minutes after that to get mask and gloves on. Compared to what I've seen other departments go, this was excellent, a 9 out of 10 score.

@bbuchanan81 I’ve always been told not to so you wouldn’t get tunnel vision as a pack guy. Have a pack on but keep masks off until last minute so you can also observe the scene for any hazards as you roll up. Not quite a “360” but at least your own size up, instead of being masked up and missing something cause you’re focused on the fire only.

It's a matter of policy as far as arriving masked up or not. Some departments feel the firefighters having a full unrestricted view as they walk up enebles them to get a good size up. Masking should only take only a few seconds, and it is a drill I know many departments frequently practice alot.
