I had a company two years ago that filled my basement large crack but didn’t do the ground area so 2 years later after a heavy rainfall my basement leaked again in the same area. I called them back and they seemed surprised but a different company Told me I needed to pop out a couple floor tiles and focus in that area as well. I should have hired them in the first place !

I used RadonSeal and did the entire basement, walls and floor. It absorbs 2 to 3 inches into the concrete and forms a vapor and moisture barrier. Sprays on using a pump sprayer. Non-toxic, no odor and its easy to work with. I also used their elastic epoxy crack filler for where the floor meets the walls and in any cracks in the floor.

Awesome video, I just came here to get a refresher on cracks, I have a house that was built in 1946, the previous owner neglected to do anything about the foundation when renovating the basement. Finished basement. I keep getting about a 1/8” of water on super heavy rainy days or in spring thaw. It does not help that my home is pinned up against a rock face. What is the Super Slurry that you prep the concrete with?

I have a monolithic slab (footer and slab all one chunk) with blocked wall concrete filled. The contractor put the french drain too high (on top of the footer) and we have had floor cracks and water in the basement after every heavy rain ever sense. Concrete footered porch on front and back, so i can't redig most of the french drain back up. Will a new rench drain further out help? Also will that sealer system work on the floor? In georgia.

Very difficult to find someone who takes a thought thru approach to work most home owners spend/waste a lot of hard earned money to address and not end up repairing. QUESTION: I have a wall crack about 1/16" wide and about 3/16" wide opposite (sister) the smaller one. I have several hairline cracks (1/64"+/-) with no water coming up. I plan to use hydraulic cement on the wall cracks. What is your thoughts on the hairline cracks? Hydraulic cement is only temporary. It will buy you time to get the right crack repair in place. Most importantly, find out what is causing the cracks. Your basement is doing a great job keeping water out, but the build up of water in your backfill area is usually the root cause of lateral pressure against your walls. Get rid of that pressure.

I'm getting ready to fix a 4' long vertical crack that is actually in the original seem. It leaks a very very small amount of water about one foot up from the floor right now but I want to stop it before it gets worse. I've been told Drylok is the way to go, V out the crack as you did then apply the mixed Drylok forcing it into the crack. After it has completely dried you can smooth it off lightly with a grinder and apply Drylok paint to further protect it from leaking. Have you heard of this method and what is your thought? Than you for the video, it was very helpful and unfortunately I can't afford for a company to come out and repair this so I have to do it myself. Where can a person buy the super slurry? Any tips would be helpful and for this video you deserve another sub, thank you.

Superslurry is not available to the public. We only use it on our jobs. It is a proprietary product we developed for over two decades. I agree with your decision. If you are short on money to do a drainage installation now, you should try to seal the area where the leak is coming from. Chances are it might stop for enough time to get a real system in to address your water problem. Drylok works fine to act as a temporary bandaid, but in the long term (months to a year) it will fail or another leak will appear somewhere else. Do not paint the whole wall. Paint does not allow it to breath which will speed up wall deterioration. If you get rid of the hydrostatic pressure with subfloor drainage system you can paint to your heart's content. Paint will trap moisture in the walls for a longer period of time. Good luck.

this is a great video, you really seem like you know what you're doing. do you have any suggestions for repairing cracks in concrete block? theres a huge crack in my basement wall. it's along the seam of the blocks from ceiling to floor. the whole house is cement blocks so i just hope the crack doesnt go all the way to the roof. any tips appreciated!

We treat a concrete block wall crack with a similar procedure, except we pour our Supercrete down the block wall channels (where the crack is located) from the top. We fill the channel to the top. In your case, you will need a lot of concrete mix for roof height. If the crack is between a half-inch to 1-inch wide we add carbon fiber support on the wall.

I have that in/out cracking in a bsmt. One crack is much wider then the other. We have dug out the clay filled exterior backfill which expanded and caused a clam effect vertical crack inside. From the inside I am wondering whether the goal is just to plug the crack or to actually reinforce the concrete. Seems clear that we can block water from ever getting in. But is the glueing of a broken cement wall just a myth or what? Havent done the job yet, am looking at using a viscous expanding polyurethane foam with the port system. Maybe its not the rugged epoxy required. Thanks for video

You need to have an experienced inspector examine your situation. Wide cracks need re-enforcement. Lateral water pressure on your walls or undermining could be the cause. You have to eliminate those two problems before repairing the wall.

It is activated by moisture and grows slowly at a molecular level. It never expands the crack size or adds mass. It slowly crystalizes weak, deteriorating concrete.

Yes. The French Drain (aka Drain Tile or Drainage Pipe) is one continuous pipe under all the engineering tabs and connected to a sump pump station.

I will subscribe and look thru more videos too. this was very helpful to watch. my house is 121 years old and the basement is always damp and musty and crumbly (walls/coating). the drain isn't even normal looking to what i've seen in newer homes... it is just sort of a big hole with crumbling concrete around it... lots to fix in this old house and not enough money or time to do it most efficiently (I'm more used to building new houses from foundation up and not fixing years of random sometimes shoddy repairs/renovations so this is stretching my patience and I often just want to bulldoze the whole thing and start over...)

If i were to build a house from scratch would it be ok to apply this system (from within the wall footing) rather than over-over engineer the method of putting the drain on the outside of the wall footing and have to deal with the massive weight and earth that could clog it ultimately. We have water in our basement in Utah. The gist of what I’m hearing is that water will make its way through the joint of the footing/wall/floor no matter what so the proper mitigation is to drain away that water as it seeps in. Land scape and downspout drainage doesn’t really address the problem. Is that about right? Will the 4 inch pipe deteriorate or fill with sediment over time?

The drainage pipes we use never deteriorate. They will out live you. Sediment can collect in them if not properly installed with a pitch. A properly pitched corrugated pipe will produce a hydrodynamic movement that will remove suspended solids all the time. That is why you see them all over highways, roadways, and terrain all over the world. It works!

Hydrostatic pressure is the reason the walls (opposite side also has a cracked wall) and floor are cracking. If I seal the crack so not a drop would come in, new cracks will form again in different spots. Water will come in again. This technique for crack repair is not a good match for block foundations. It is best that you consider a installing a subfloor drainage system to reduce the hydrostatic pressure from cracking your walls first. Fix the crack afterwards using hydraulic cement. If you are brave place rebar in the block cores and fill with cement.

Long Island is too far for us. First find out if you have a problem near the outside wall where the bathroom is located. You might be able to divert excess exterior surface water with drainage 15 feet downhill.

We used a combination of epoxy and our proprietary crystalline concrete mixture to repair the crack. Similar to a hydrophobic injection that hardens and forms a strong bond with the surrounding concrete. Polyurethane crack injection is highly effective as well. It allows minor concrete movement without compromising the seal, preventing future leaks. Both are remarkable.

The slurry only works on manmade cement, not natural stone or rock. The superslurry 100% seals concrete pores, stopping water absorption, strengthens and continues to grow into existing concrete over time.

The cost is relative. Waterproofing costs in CT, NY, NJ, RI & MA is higher than any other part of the country because operating costs are higher. The price also varies dramatically from job to job, so I never post prices online. No two cracks are the same. In this particular job, the crack repair on two walls was discounted dramatically and packaged with a full-perimeter system.

Nothing different about this home to many other homes. They have good grading around their property. Underground water can run off hills or from neighbor's yards and collect in the 8 feet of loose soil that surrounds their house. Grading, gutters, and downspouts only helps with decreasing a small percentage of rainfall from entering the loose soil. You will still have a water problem if you are hit by a big storm.

Exterior perimeter drainage is expensive, intrusive to install (can take weeks to install), and may come with a 10-year warranty. It will most likely fail in the short term because of destructive sub-soil elements. That is why interior drainage is a more accepted form of keeping the basement dry.

Yeah that previous patch job was terrible and your system looks 100x times better but 2 things: Don't you want your concrete to "breathe" ? does your slurry that fills in the pores of the concrete still allow airflow? Why are you trying to support parts of the slab on the footing? that's a recipe for differential settlement. If there isn't any reinforcement in that existing slab on grade it's definitely going to crack now along those squares you made.

Yes. We allow 3/4 of the wall to "breathe." Superslurry only covers the bottom 24 inches, up to the hydrostatic line outside the house, eliminating the wall's efflorescence and strengthing wall. There is no differential settlement without vertical water pressure using our system or our Supercrete 6000psi, mending the old concrete floor into practically one solid piece again. No cracks. We have a lifetime no cracks warranty.

My concrete basement walls were likely poured before 1920 and there were in terrible condition when I bought the house, crumbling to the touch, large vertical cracks on opposite sides just like in your video. Wish I would've come across your system before. I was just curious about the superslurry because I've only heard of concrete additives like Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) or penetrating silanes/siloxanes that help close pores in concrete, so I'm very curious how it works. And yes if you do in fact relieve the water pressure, the slab should be fine, just note in general when slab is bearing on two different materials it should be reinforced. How does your high-strength supercrete prevent cracking? Do you reinforce with WWF? Doesn't higher strength concrete actually have more chances of cracking than say 4000psi?

@@CT-um7zq Concrete needs to breathe because it absorbs water. If you encase both sides of a concrete wall, you've trapped water inside. Crystalline waterproofing materials fill all the pores throughout the wall, leaving no trapped water. In theory, even water vapor won't be able to enter the concrete. Look up "hydrophobic concrete" if you want to know more.

Everything outside that can be done was done a while back by another company. It was not enough. Our interior waterproofing works perfectly with or without additional exterior waterproofing.

We would be in the exterior waterproofing business if it worked well, but no assurance can be made for the long haul. Properly installed interior waterproofing systems are capable of waterproofing for a lifetime.
