Yes cleaning big curtains is easy in washing machine and can easily change, can even put most expensive weddings dress quality curtain with heaviest hand work possible. Its Easy to self change . Those mechanical ones need yo have professional to clean.

After seeing this video, I think I will stick with curtains only. Blinds are too cumbersome in my opinion and give drab office type feeling. With curtains, there is no need to pull any strings, just a simple pull or swipe is good enough. Sometimes old is gold and curtains have stood the test of time.

I think no. If it's a house I will recommend curtains here as vertical blinds are a bit difficult to maintain and Venetian will be good if you go for wood Venetian.
