This is such a great improvement to the mosaic style. My only question is for each return row do you do just the single crochet(us) stitch...and closing the gap stitches as well, of course.??

I’m just learning about mosaic crochet, and haven’t tried it yet. I’ve watched videos for inset and for overlay mosaic crochet - I didn’t realize there is also interlay mosaic crochet. I appreciate you working slowly and having good closeups shots, and taking the time to explain well what you are doing. I’m hoping you can answer some questions about the chart. You made two white rows to start. In your swatch, it looks like you then did two pink rows on top of the white rows, but in the chart, I don’t see any pink rows before you start your pattern. As I said, I’m new to this - how would I know from looking at the chart that I am supposed to do pink rows here? Also, you say you are starting the video at row three. It looks to me like row 5. Are you not counting the return/wrong side row? I saw that done in another video. This technique is fascinating, and the quality of your video is great. It’s really helpful because it’s exactly what I would see while crocheting. How do you record this - do you have a camera around your neck? Thanks! 😊

Thanks for the tutorial, can you please make a video that is more beginner friendly in terms of how to start like how many chains and go over the pattern one row at a time, kind of crochet along, I love mosaic and I think this is a good way for not having all those ends

Hello I am going to try it 💕 I love your heart pattern its beautiful 😍 First time going to try the interlay 💕 I have a question 🤭 after I do the 28+31 chains to start the row of sc do I go into the 2nd chain and do a sc or do I need to do another chain? Thanks in advance 💕

Thanks 😀 The stitch base is 28+31. For one repeat, you would need a chain of 60, then start your UK dc (US sc) in the 2nd chain. For two repeats, you would need a chain of 88, etc.

Thank you for responding quick I appreciate it 💕 so if I want to do 4 repeats it will be 28×4=112+ 31=143+1=144 then I go in the 2nd chain & will end with 143 sc 😬 Sorry for bugging you

I have a couple of questions, being totally new to both this technique and the one it replaces, with the chains? Do you add a border, so that the carried yarn up the sides is covered, as the point was to make it safe for small babies to not catch their fingers? And is there a way to calculate how much more yarn per project this uses? thank you for any help you can give :-)

I never add the border (because I am too lazy). The carried up yarn is very safe. I have thrown my children's blankets through the machine many times and they are still like new.

I haven't had a chance to calculate how much yarn is needed, as I tend to gift my makes as soon as they are finished. I am however making the same pattern in the yarn yarn in both inset and interlay, and will take photos of the end products to demonstrate the difference in size.
