This video shows the DCC sound decoder and custom lighting installation for my Walthers Proto SW8. This locomotive has a 21 pin Loksound Select decoder installed, with functioning headlights, ground lights and cab light. The method shown in the video also works for similar Walthers switchers such as the SW1, SW9 and SW1200. This installation is moderately difficult due to the complexity of the lights and tight spaces inside the locomotive.
Video shows all of the steps from start to finish.
Materials:
1. 21 pin compatible circuit board - various manufacturers
2. ESU 21 pin LokSound Select (goo.gl/Td8xA7)
3. ESU 50321 speaker (goo.gl/iPpy2N)
3. Prewired 0402 LEDs x5 (eBay or contact me I may have extras for sale from time to time)

'Very nice. ESU decoders are awesome. I would cut the wires shorter, but that's me.

Yep cutting the wires to length is a good idea and it's something I will do in the future.

Awesome video! Great job with that install. Question, What is that software that you used? Will that work with any decoder or just ESU?

Why not cut the wire to length? Saves room and makes for a neater installation.

It's not available anymore unfortunately. ESU makes one but without onboard resistors.

Did you have to solder wire's to the 21pin decoder

Where did you purchase the speaker? And is the board available for separate sale?
@DBRXCustomRailroadModels
@DBRXCustomRailroadModels 6 жыл бұрын
Speaker is ESU part #50321. The board's not available from Rapido anymore due to people buying them all up. I'm asking ESU if they have plans to produce a 8-function breakout board (with amplifying circuits for AUX3456) for the 21-pin Loksound Selects. If they don't, I will probably commission a factory in China to make them because they are very useful for DCC installs.
