Honestly speaking it's a very interesting short story. It's amazing and it makes deweling on my past when I was a student at the university sharing one room with my two university friends. Had to is the past tense of have to. Some examples of it in use in the story are: Josie had to stifle her eyes from rolling. (if she didn't people would notice and might think she's rude! She had to sit on a wall in the beer garden and compose herself. (fi she didn't, she might have fallen over from the excitement!)
