Hi Kim, to answer that it all depends on what you are practising? If you are practising raag, then you need to practice it’s alankar , bandish and taans etc. In case it’s tonguing that you want to improve , then its practice and alankar a. Here when a guru helps as he can guide you in a better way to practice what exactly is required according to your progress and pace of learning

Sir you videos are good and after watching them I have improved. The only problem I have is that I am learning Carnatic music flute not Hindustani. The notations in Carnatic music flute are a bit different (For example : Hindustani flute Sa is Carnatic flute Ni2) But except that I have no issues.

Komal Ni acts as a roadblock in fast playing and hence suggested. It works as ankle weights used for running :) Any komal swar is good , however for beginners komal ni is easiest to play
