Great work here. Another excellent recording. I know it's been a while but I wasn't really sure who to ask about this but I thought about you. I have been studying music for a while mostly clarinet, now alto. I just started reading through a theory book on jazz standards and the first thing it goes into is the chord progressions stating that it will be extremely helpful in learning jazz harmony. Ok, great, I'm sold... except I play a melodic instrument. So I was just wondering if you, or maybe anyone else, had an idea about how to approach this? Maybe I should just pick up a harmonic instrument or maybe just become familiar with the chord construction and playing through the chord tones on clarinet or maybe just forget the whole thing? idk... maybe not that last one.

Honestly I couldn’t tell you, I’m not a jazz player 🤷‍♀️ I would study the chords maybe on piano, or if you don’t have one maybe playing by them on clarinet would work, keeping in mind that clarinet is in Bb…and also supplement the book with videos…there’s a lot of great jazz theory videos on KZbin.
