Fantastic catch. The Coast Sub is a vastly underused line in the UP system. I know Cuesta poses a bit of a challenge, but there's no reason single-stacked well cars can't be the norm. Not everything has to go through Tehachapi.

Thanks! I agree, it’s definitely underused.. I remember when the Coast had autos, cans, and baretables even. It would make sense to run trains down but i guess UP thinks otherwise.

@@CaliRail I know the ODOWP doesn't run anymore, but why baretables and empty autos had to go is anyone's guess. I guess other than Amtrak, it's mostly the Guadalupe hauler and the occasional work train.

Yup, After the the Cans passed their age, It was abolished and the autos and IOALBR followed suit. They ended up taking the valley and we are just left with the LOF65/66/67 and other locals.. Although UP does tend to run baretables to settle track down and to run tonnage over stuff.

@@CaliRailmaybe if th e Fresno sub gets to busy UP might have to send some trains on the coast

@ilikefreighttrains1989 that won't happen anytime soon traffic on the Fresno has varied recently. It's supposed to be busy, only time will tell in the coming months.

Oakland to Long Beach. I believe they ran this and a few more for the countless XHs that are in place, Then in September 2022 they did the same thing and they ran another “IOALBR” with every car loaded with containers… Single stacked of course. Thank you!

@@CaliRailI heard they rerouted it to the central valley, do u think it will ever return to the coastline?
