Never seen a burnishing tool in action . It works pritty simple and good as I see . Nice job ! 👍

Those Rego collet adapters are wicked cool. I experimented with a "coolant through" R8 annular adapter I modified on a tormach that was somewhat successful, but I really like the simplicity of the Rego being a collet nut - that's it. Even though you don't have a high pressure pump, having something pushing the chips out looks seriously helpful. Way awesome.

How does those pins spread out in that tiny increment and yet keep the parallelism with overall shaft!! Amazing engineering, thank you for showing.
@Roetz402 жыл бұрын
They do roll on a conical surface. By screwing the tool you advance the conus thats what dials in the increments

Great example of using the correct tool for the job

You could try a gun drill for that operation, aka Einlippenbohrer. Full TC one, you might get away with a VERY good surface finnish (we managed Rz of under 1 in some parts) with 1 operation. In that size the tools are not that expensive. Might be worth a try.

Thank you for mentioning. Maybe I'll give it a try!

Very interesting use of the burnishing tool but i think with proper coolant pump you could run the TSC drills and they would leave a much better finish than even your reamer was leaving. I have definitely gotten some mirror finish holes with no scoring or gouging with 213PSI TSC with a 3/16 yg1 inox dream drill. If you had 500 or 1000 PSI ]i think you would be in even better shape

Do you deburr those holes afterwords, if so does that process not mess with the diameter by pushing a burr in possibly? Maybe running a chamfer tool before the reamer makes sense?
@Roetz402 жыл бұрын
I have spiralized chamfer tools that wont leave a burr. I dont chamfer on cnc because I have to do other side manually either way and its easier this way. Also they get chamfered while grinding process
@davidkitsio38392 жыл бұрын
@@Roetz40 I see. Those chamfer tools look super neat, I’ll have to try them out someday. Thanks!

I'm not a machinist so apologies if this is a stupid question but did you try this out without reaming first?
@Roetz402 жыл бұрын
Burnishing is only working of the prefinish is reliable. In my case the burnishing is only widening the bore by 15 micron. If the pressure is too high, the tool will break
