Yesss exactly! Some bacalhau de natas, polvo com batatas or sopa de couve! Anything other than what they showed would've been better! I was like wth is that! I've never heard or seen that dish before.

I've been a portuguese for 27 years, born in Porto, raised in Esposende (Minho region), went to college in the templar city of Tomar and I'm now working in Lisbon. "Lampreia de Ovos" aka "Egg lamprey" is a Christmas dish everywhere in this country. I don't personally like it but it's a classic for sure.

I'm second generation Portuguese American, and I don't recall ever seeing that at Christmas before. My family did however add lots of American foods and things to the holidays to "fit in" a bit more. When my grandparents came to America my grandfather always had Budwiser in the fridge, and the guy only drank wine. They sometimes just did whatever Americans did.
