I am a fan of stand up comedy. The joke has to be relatable in order to be funny. And that requires that one has to be culturally immersed in order to find a joke really funny. It took me several years of living in the US and immersing myself in the American culture before I started laughing at their jokes. That said, I kind of disagree with the statement that his comic is "too advanced for these Filipino crowd." Remember, this guy was raised and educated in the US; therefore his jokes are crafted mostly for the American crowd. The Filipinos, especially those who are back there, have different life experiences and may not be able to fully relate to his jokes, yet, they laughed, didn't they? Laughter is a trait that we Filipinos should be proud about us. We are the only people who have the capacity to laugh at ourselves, even if the jokes are on us. Mabuhay ang kulturang Pinoy!

I just can't put the right words into it. it indeed have to do with the culture, and it has to be relatable.. the jokes he made on the show somehow didn't connect perfectly with the audience, due many factors. they're just not that ready for western type jokes.. hopefully he'll get a good crowd on his tours.

Cracking jokes to Filipinos in the Philippines in English don’t have the same effect in audience’s reactions. It can be a bit challenging for the comedian to deliver his materials due to language barriers but JR handled it well. I always admire his joke deliberation. He’s subtle and comically unique. 👍😍❤️

People needs to understand, people in the Philippines has a different way of having fun when it comes to comedy than what we are used to here in the US. Style kasi ng pag papatawa sa Pinas is pag tawanan ang kapwa dahil sa itsura, or even pag tawanan ang sarili nila to make them look funny. It’s different here in the States kaya I totally understand.
