I’m not too much on some of the old IH trucks, but that is one sharp little single axle rig. 🥰 I like single axles. Sounds good. I remember seeing some of those out on the road back in the day.

My dad had one similar to this when I was a kid. Can’t remember the year, but it was a Red Fleetstar 2000 twin screw with a NA 230 Cummins. He said they were everywhere back in the day, but eventually their steel cabs rusted away.

It sounds more like an Inline configuration, but it can't be anything else than a 6-71 ;) They normally push at 2000-2500 RPM, but being 2 strokes it sounds like it's revving as a demon ;)

My dad's oilfield would have been tons better off with DD in their binders! They had 2 gas burners with the 304 a tandem with a vapor locking 345!! Tons of torque no speed man!! Lol!!

I read the comments from the folks get all nostalgic about the sound of a Detroit Diesel. Take it from an old truckie: those suckers were loud. It didn't matter what make of truck that you drove they were all the same. If you didn't wear earplugs, and I always did, you came home with a headache that took a handful of aspirin and a six pack to cure

These were decent trucks at the Mov. & Stor. Co. we had 1 Then we had a newer 1974 that I drove for awhile.. It was a 74 I drove it in 76 it had sat in the garage brand new for 2 years before they put it on the road. also had to brand new 74 Diamond Reos That didn't see the road until 76.. They were funny like that the owners.

ROTAXD A non-turbo 2-stroke Detroit is considered naturally aspirated. The roots blower that is required to make the engine run is just that: a blower. It’s not a supercharger in this application because it only raises the intake air pressure slightly above atmospheric pressure.
